Ownership of Unix copyright headed to trial
This seems to be about SVR4 based unices, not BSD based Unices. Hence not about Macs. I think the claim against Linux is likely fatuous, and in any case it if gets too annoying someone will write a new version of the indicated code.

DENVER — A federal appeals court on Monday reversed a judge's decision that granted the copyright of the Unix computer operating system to Novell Inc.

A three-judge panel of the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a judge erred in August 2007 by granting the copyright to Novell. The panel ordered a trial to determine ownership.

Novell, a software and computer infrastructure company, has been locked in a yearslong legal battle with The SCO Group Inc. of Lindon, Utah, over ownership to the copyright.

SCO said the ruling paves the way for resumption of the court case.

1. Nobody cares
Nobody that matters sells Unix anymore.

Linux, IBM AIX, HP-UX, and Solaris, but not Unix.

2. Sco - complete and utter losers....
they're the ones that, funded by Microsoft sued Linus Torvalds and others over what they claimed were stolen lines of code in the Linux operating system.....

They lost every part of the case and the judge said at one point he'd like to fine sco for contempt of the judicial system.

SCO thinks they can sue their way back into being a playa......

4. Good discussion here ...

Typically, there are some errors of interpretation and fact in this AP story. The writer also seem to be unaware of the actual history of this case(s).

5. Errors of omission, too.
I was sort of amused that this ghost dance is still going on.
