AMC? Cinemark? Are you paying attention to this?

1. It's about time!
Whatever happened to manners? People need to STFU in theaters...

I hope this trend will spread.

2. Capitol Idea!
I don't pay twenty bucks to listen to others talk, laugh, chat on their phones.

In fact I hardly go out to see movies at all precisely for this reason.

Good job, Drafthouse Cinema!

:applause:

3. I like that!
I rarely go to movies in theaters any more, because of the number of rude people there. Idiots need to remember they are NOT in their living rooms.

10. Crap, there was a thread on my monitor.
I read that as "...the number of nude people there". I was thinking I needed to start going back to the theatre if they'd changed the rules.

4. Weird to see a Drafthouse clip on DU. I wish their WAITRESSES at Alamo North would also shut up.
One of them doesn't know how to use her two-inch voice. I didn't appreciating hearing "WOULD YOU LIKE ANYTHING ELSE OR WILL THAT BE ALL? THANK YOU. WOULD YOU LIKE ANYTHING ELSE OR WILL THAT BE ALL? THANK YOU" for five minutes in the middle of 28 Weeks Later.

I only go to South and the Ritz for that reason ;)

7. One reason why I will never see the Rocky Horror Picture Show in a theater again.
Those people are just scary.

11. Maybe this is a regional thing but I never have any problems
at the movies. Funny thing is I see mostly kids movies in the theaters and still have no complaints. It's a good thing too because to get my family of 5 to the movies costs nearly a hundred bucks.
Colorado is where I live BTW..

12. The ear-shattering volumes most use nowadays
tends to ameliorate the problem a bit. Even then, though, it just makes some yell louder. I once took my son to a movie and we sat 4 seats over from a girl who spent the time shouting at the screen. Not reactive squeals or anything like that, she was stage-managing the characters. I didn't want to go off on an 11-year-old and it was a full house, so we couldn't move without breaking my kid apart from his friends. Management talked to her a couple of times, but it didn't make a difference for more than a few minutes.

14. Go to a late night Friday show...
that's a good bet if you want to see the rude behavior for yourself.

Adults with feet up on chairs, thumping them... teens texting during the movie... phones ringing. It's awful and I'll never go at that time again.

15. After I win the lottery
The gratuitous Movie Theater will open. It will be a modest venue, not too many seats. I will show double features of second-run and classic movies. Admission will be five bucks. Popcorn will be two bucks for the big container, one buck for the smaller container. Sodas will be a buck fifty for big size, a buck for smaller size. Candy will be reasonably priced. Movies will start on time, at the tick of the hour, with no fewer than two previews of coming attractions. There will be a cartoon. Then the first feature will begin promptly without further ado or commercials. There will be a five minute break between features for bathroom breaks and to reload on popcorn, because all movies should be enjoyed with popcorn. Real butter, not that partially-hydrogenated coconut oil crap that currently abominates American cinema.

I will hire and pay a union projectionist. I will hire local high school students who will dress appropriately, be paid $10 an hour, plus $1 per hour will be banked for their post-job requirements, whether that's college, trade school or just to blow on whatever (I'll encourage college). There will be a warning placard in the lobby against rude or disruptive behavior, and offenders will be summarily removed.

I may actually make money.
