Why is everyone so scared of a filibuster? Why not let the
Republicans talk themselves out so they can be seen for what they are?

2. We only need 50 votes in the Senate, not 60 to pass legislation.

4. I still don't think we have the votes - aren't more than 10 against a private option

3. Because a filibuster kills a bill
That's why. Wanna start all over again with another 3 or 6 or 9 months of trying to put together a 1,000-page trillion-dollar health care bill?

We want to get every Democrat to vote for cloture so a filibuster cannot proceed. That in itself will be very hard, but necessary.

6. OK, but this is the part I don't understand:I think the point of
the filibuster is to prevent a vote by causing such a delay all other business comes to a halt. What happens if people see the Republican Senators preventing an up or down vote?

7. wouldn't that be if the filibuster is successful?....
Let them try to talk continuously for 3-6 months, halting all other senate business. Keep the cameras rolling, we can wait them out.

5. There are no rules about what is said, they could just sit and read Bible quotes if they want to
it won't expose them the way you seem to think it will
