SoCal residents get free universal healthcare.....from Britain

from the Telegraph UK:

Briton providing free healthcare to thousands of Americans
Stan Brock, a British aid worker, is providing thousands of Americans with free health care after turning a basketball stadium in Los Angeles into a walk-in clinic.

Just as the American Right is attacking British health care, Mr Brock, originally from Preston, Lancs, has set up his mobile clinic in the city for the first time after spending almost 25 years taking volunteer doctors and dentists to care for the poor in Third World countries.

Mr Brock, who started his Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corp in the Amazon basin, has been described as a "modern day Florence Nightingale".

Such is the popularity of his clinic, attracting up to 1,500 people a day who begin queuing at dawn, that hundreds have been turned away every day this week as the volunteers struggle to cope with the demand for free treatment.

"There are about 49 million people who don't have access to the care they need. They simply can't afford it," said Mr Brock.

"Something needs to done about this situation. LA is no different than other parts of the country. Just 10 days ago we were in southwest Virginia. We treated 2,715 people in two days. We had 1,784 volunteers, pulled out over 4,000 teeth and made over 1,000 pairs of glasses. It's no different here than Detroit, New York City or those rural areas.

While many of his patients have medical insurance, often it is inadequate to cover what British patients would consider basic care provided by the NHS. ............(more)

4. We are a third world country when it comes to health care. Our politicians should be so ashamed.
But are most? IMHO they couldn't give a shit.
