1. Eat poutine for 5 days straight!
Fries and cheese curds smothered in brown gravy. What's not to love about that?

17. Yes, but you'll be walking a lot, and in a city named after a mountain...
you can bet some of that walking will be *UPHILL* ;).

23. I think you'd be pleased with *ANY* of the Canadian cities.
Mr. Tesha and I have spent a lot of time in Montreal and love it.

We've also been to Toronto and Vancouver and have enjoyed
them both as well, and would love to go back to either.

13. If I could recommend your post, I would!
Poutine is the BEST!

My Montreal BFF sends me down the sauce packs every so often, and you can buy the curds at Trader Joe's.

Ohhhhhh....now I'm thinkin' ROAD TRIP!

3. Eat.
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 02:20 PM by Tesha
Make sure you spend time in Old Montreal (centering around Place St. Jacques at the riverfront. There are plenty of good restaurants around there, but Jardin Nelson is one of our favorites.

Ride Le Metro.

Visit St. Joseph's Oratory and the surrounding neighborhood.

Eat at Schwartz's Jewish Deli.

Go up to the look-out at the top of Mont Royal. Visit the overlook on the road down on the East side.

Visit the old olympic site.

Visit the botanical garden (IIRC).

Go play at Le Ronde.

Visit McGill University.

Visit the Museum of Fine Arts.

Go to a Canadian IKEA ;-)

Walk out on the Clock Tower Quay and be impressed by the Saint Lawrence River. Climb the clock tower if it's open.

Visit the Science Museum.

Practice your French; you'll be much-more appreciated!

Visit the cathedral.

Take the brewery tour.

8. I was there about 15 years ago.
I remember it was a pretty city and the people dressed well but I can't remember the sites other than the old expo fairgrounds and Olympic Stadium.
If you want to know about the sites, try posting your question on the Canada forum.
Have fun! And kiss a Mountie for me!

25. in addition to the other ideas you can see habitat 67 and casino montreal
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 04:06 PM by pitohui
i actually ended up making money on that day's outing, tee hee

apparently you can take an architectural tour and learn all the stories behind the building of the casino, habitat 67, and this island, and there are also tours/information you can download about the other famous architectural bldgs in montreal

if your french is bad, it's easier for them if you just give up and speak english, in montreal proper most people speak both and their english is likely better than yr french
