Steele: Palin's Talk Of A "Death Panel" Is "Perfectly Appropriate"
RNC Chairman Michael Steele just appeared on the Neil Cavuto show, where he endorsed Sarah Palin's accusation that President Obama will set up "death panels" to decide who is worthy or not of medical care.

"Well I think it's proper," said Steele, when Cavuto asked him about Palin's remarks, "because it's in the context of what people are seeing in some of the legislation that's floating around out there. When you're talking about panels that are gonna be imposed, that will be making life-and-death decisions, that will be making decisions about whether or not you get health care or don't receive health care, I think that's perfectly appropriate."

Now how you characterize it is a matter of interpretation," he then added, "but it doesn't change the fact that buried within a lot of this legislation is stuff that's fairly onerous."

As an example of another onerous provision, he said that the government will have access to people's financial information. For more information on this other right-wing talking point, check out Zack Roth's debunking of it.

14. What does this have anything to do with race?
I don't care whether Steele is White, Black, or Hispanic. His comments are usually totally off-base.

 Is Steele admitting he's as crazy as Palin?

I've told my husband and my sons about my end of life decisions and what I want later. That doctors will be reimbursed for spending time with patients is a bonus as far as I'm concerned. We just went through this with my beloved MIL, when she went home with Hospice care. What she did and did not want was posted on a blue sheet on the 'fridge.

Crazy assed fuckers they are.

ETA: When Frist and Bush** and the right wing went into full scale nutjob overdrive with Ms. Schiavo is when my used to be republican mother turned her back on the republican party. If someone's life has been touched by these decisions, there is a different understanding about someone being allowed to die with as much dignity as possible, in the place they desire.

So, keep talking you crazy-assed folk.

11. Well of course he would say that...
...to them, it *is* appropriate.

Oh, they know it's not true and not even close to true.

But the bottom line is: bullshit like this *works*. So they want to *keep* using it. Therefore, people like Steele have to get out there and give cover so they can keep it alive.

They laugh at us when we point out their untruths. They laugh because it doesn't matter, not at all. The lie gets out there, it gets folks riled up, it serves its purpose. That's it. As the cliche goes: "Don't take it personally, it's just business." That is really, truly how these amoral, unethical inciters see it.
