This appeared yesterday in the local rag by a former local official. He never says which bill he 'read' but describes in detail almost all of the right wing talking points. Also 'Kit' Bond has declared he's not running next year, so his seat will be open for a real Democrat to fill, not the Dem-lite like McCaskill.
I'm wondering where this came from, because knowing the so-called author as I do, he could not have come up with this on his own. This is where I live:
"Open letter to U.S. Sen. Christopher Bond
Dear Senator;
I wish to convey my thoughts to you on several subjects. 1. I am totally against the proposed Health Care Reform Bill now being debated. I have read the entire 1000+ pages and the more I read the more terrified I became. There are several parts that disturb me but I will point out only a few. The committee to run this nightmare is totally controlled by the president, both by the members of the committee that sets up the rules being appointed by him and also the commissioner to run the thing being appointed by him Then there is the part where • the commission has the right to access my personal financial records, the Commission being able to tell me where I go for health care (yes it is in there: sect 163), having Medicare being put under this debacle, • the government using groups such as Acorn to go out in the community to sell this to me and children in schools, putting non citizens such as illegal aliens into the coverage, and they are exempt from paying any health care tax ( sec 59 b page 170) • hospitals such as Lake Regional cannot expand without Commission approval ( Sec 1156 page 317-318), • and contrary to what the pPresident has been saying, the government will MANDATE End of life counseling including living wills and durable powers of attorney ( sec 1233), • the government will decide what treatment you will have at end of life (also in 1233), a center for COST EFFECTIVENESS will be established to determine if it is feasible to treat you (sec 1401), • the government will impose a fee (read tax) on all private insurance plans to pay for health trust fund (sec 4375) and finally the government will establish a Public Health Workforce Corps no cost is mentioned in sec3401 page 897-899. 2. I think that the stimulus package was nothing more than one big payoff to the Unions, acorn, and other groups that helped elect Obama 3. The Cap and Trade legislation passed by the house will hit us in the Midwest With immensely higher electric bills. The president of the Co-Mo Electric Co-op here in Missouri says that we could see our bills triple or more as our power is generated 80 percent by coal....those in Rep Waxman’s district will see almost no increase and a possible decrease as the majority of their power comes from nuclear. 4. I don’t understand why the service dogs for disabled veterans coming home from Iraq and Afganistan has been discontinued, and at the same time I saw where the Senate approved 700 million dollars to count the wild horses out west.....there is something terribly wrong in that allocation. 5. There is a group of us that are planning a memorial event here at the lake on Sept. 11 this year to honor those who lost their lives on 9-11-01, to salute those in the military who are in harms way serving this great nation and also to pay tribute to those Blue and Gold Star mothers who have loved ones on active duty and have lost loved ones on active duty. When we requested to have troops from both Whiteman Air Force Base and Ft Leonard Wood participate, we received word back that this administration has sent a directive out that no troops or military equipment would be allowed to participate in any ceremony on Patriots Day. We want to know WHY. We all appreciate your sending a representative out in our community to give us the opportunity to voice our opinions, we can only hope that you take our comments seriously. Thank you for your time. Signed Local Dumb-ass "
