Both the House and Senate bills have a strong public option. Durbin's comment was just that:

There are two bills, House and HELP, both have robust public options.

Durbin made a comment, which was hypothetical and could very well have been about the Finance Committee bill holding up the process. Obama suggested a September 15 deadline, after which he says the process should move forward. Baucus got the message.

People should stop freaking out about every comment. Durbin's comment has no bearing on the two bills.
