1. He'll use money from other areas.
Like education, military housing, veterans' benefits, so forth.

3. At some point the troops will make their own way back
They won't just sit there and die.
When they return, they'll want some quality time with the Bush Family at the Summer Palace.

4. He'll bring the troops home
Bush is not as powerful as people here think. In fact, Bush is very weak and unpopular right now. All the paranoia about him canceling the elections or declaring martial law is ridiculous, there would be a coup first.

The Democrats should have cut off funding. We'd be planning the parade right now.

6. He'll attack Iran.
Nothing can be allowed to stop the flow of taxpayer money to the Military Industrial Media Complex. Nothing.

7. If he attacks Iran....
...he will have "clearly and openly" committed an impeachable offense. Only Congress can declare war. The authorization he has now, allowed for the military engagements in Afghanistan and Iraq. He could never make a case for justification of an Iran attack, particularly since he's now poor-mouthing about the needs of the troops saying they don't have enough. Why go to war if you don't have the resources and troops. There would be no room left to argue about whether he's incompetent or not then. And even the ReThugs in Congress wouldn't (or couldn't get away with) supporting him.

That would do him... IMHO

15. His friends the Saudis or Mossad might give him a present to use as an excuse to attack but...
the generals will not salute and jump into the abyss on command, people won't line up at the recruiter's office, the American people will not tolerate a draft, and if Bush instates one, American kids will mostly ignore their draft letters.

8. The war mongering asshole will point his shit stained finger at
the totally innocent democrats for his fuck up! Nothing new here, republicans have been doing this for the last 100 years. The republicans get into power and screw up the system, then don't do anything to fix it. They sit on their asses and wait for the Democrats to take office to do what's needed to keep the country operating - then the REPUBLICANS that caused all the mess in the first place sit back on their fat pimply hemorrhoid asses and point their bony shit faced fingers at the totally innocent Democrats.

9. I would love to see
the Dems cut off funding for Iraq and explain to our Esteemed Attorney General that they can do the same for the DOJ. Might get his attention, might not, but could be interesting.

10. He is already punishing the troops by leaving them in longer and calling up the Guard units.
I am sure he has the same opinion of the Military as Kissinger did. That Military men are dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns.

14. This is what scares me...
I went for the second option because I have a very strong gut feeling that if Congress manages to cut funding and impose a deadline, Bush will find some way to screw the troops and then blame the Democrats for it. :( He is an evil, evil bastard with no morals or sense of decency...and that scares me to death. I really think he is going to get angry about this and take it out on the troops - after all, to him they are just pawns in his little game, and if he can use them to "get back" at the Democrats, I have no doubt he will. He either does not recognize that they are humans with lives and friends and families, or worse, he just doesn't give a damn. :grr:

17. yep, and he said as much with his longer deployment threat which makes no sense if he
doesn't get the money, and which he has done and is going to do anyway.

Essentially, he publicly said, "give me the money and the troops won't get hurt."

I heard Paul Reickoff on Rachel Maddow yesterday say he's sick of Bush using the troops as hostages.

I wish the Democrats could be that direct.
