URGENT: Tommorrow Stop Them in Denver.

The tea baggers are taking their cues and shutting down our democracy -again. They did it in 2000. Now they are doing it with healthcare reform. They tell Chris Dodd to cmmit suicide. They physically threaten dem congress persons. Tonight we learn of death threats against Rep Miller of NC just for wanting to host a townall. The police are involved and its deemed too dangerous to go on with t he event. Tommorrow we have a chance to tell these people no!

These Right wing tactics are ones we know well. My family learned them back in Europe. In the 30s poltical discussion was shut down by thugs comming to potlical salons etc and by using threats and violence shut down their right to speak openly.

TOMMORROW IS THE PERFECT TIME FOR DEMS TO SAY NO TO THIS. SPEAKER PELOSI AND REP POLIS ARE HAVING A PRESS CONFERENCE IN DENVER ON HEALTHCARE. MALKIN HAS PUT UP THE RADAR AND IS URGING ALL BIRTHERS AND TEA BAGGERS TO SHUT DOWN THE SPEAKER. IF YOU LIVE NEAR CO CAN U PLEASE HELP BY GOING TO LINKS BELOW AND ATTENDING THE EVENT?

Here is the 411 Please recommend this diary as this EVENT IS TOMMORROW. The tea baggers and birthers are out to get Pelosi and Polis tomorrow. The Speaker is having a presser. Lets not let her be humiliated or be forced to be shut up by these folks.

This is a last minute Protest Alert

In other news the tea baggers are terrorizing our fellow members of Congress and we must be aggressive and make sure these events are fair to constituents. Rep Miller today has received many death threats-so serious the police are involved.

Dem Congressman's Office: His Life Has Been Threatened Over Health Care Bill
By Eric Kleefeld - August 5, 2009, 5:54PM

Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC) will not be hosting any town hall events this August -- instead, he's making himself available to constituents for one-on-one meetings about health care reform -- and at least part of the reason is this: His offices have received threatening phone calls, including at least one direct threat against his life.

"We had no town hall events scheduled for the August recess anyway, but in light of everything that's happened -- we have received a threatening phone call in the D.C. office, there have been calls to the Raleigh office," said Miller communications director LuAnn Canipe, in an interview with TPM. The threatening call in question happened earlier this week.

....
They haven't heard anything back from the police yet, but they did get the caller's number. So this could develop into something soon enough.
(Special thanks to TPM Reader ML.)

---

Congressman Gene Green of Houston had a town hall-notice a pattern-and faced boos, howls and threats. And luckily the reporter asked how many were actually living in his dsitrict. Turns out not many. The tea baggers drove in like they did for Tom DeLay in the 2000 Florida coup.

7. Aware of the violence against the congressman but thinking more
along the lines of crowd riots.

The same bunch who is disrupting these events will most likely escalate to violence once confronted.

16. Or maybe they'll back down like the cowardly bullies they are.
Of course, when they're confronted on their bullying tactics, they cry that we're "violating their First Amendment rights."

24. I think Randi Rhodes had a good idea today.
Edited on Wed Aug-05-09 10:11 PM by Sebastian Doyle
I only caught about 5 minutes of her show, but it was enough to hear this idea....

Nobody should get in to one of these meetings unless they can prove they live in the district. These congress critters are coming to hear from THEIR constituents. And the Freepers who live in that district, sure, they have as much right to be there (RESPECTFULLY, that is) as anybody else.

But when an astroturf mob of assholes gets off a chartered bus in a liberal district, you can bet they ain't locals. And as such, they can go home and bitch in their own district.

26. "Americans For Prosperity" is starting the day in Greeley.
They are holding an anti-healthcare rally at one of our parks, and they are being warmly welcomed by our local republican party (see link http://www.weldcountygop.org / for their announcement of the event). Please note that they actually refer to this as a "bus tour", as if they were coming here to benignly admire our amber waves of grain.

We're going to be there, too. We won't shout, we will converse. We'll have non-inflammatory signs. We'll have cameras.

The park, by the way, is right across the street from the downtown police station.

32. Stout Street Clinic? Do you know that neighborhood?
I'm typing this about 2 miles away from there. I'm thinking they may
have picked the wrong place to protest. That's a rough neighborhood
and I'd bet the vast majority of that neighborhood is in desperate need
of and desire for SINGLE PAYER.

34. take pictures, take videos
Could be useful for prosecution if any crimes are committed, or for strategics for the next town hall.

Might be interesting to walk through the parking lot with a video camera, recording cars & license plates. Noting how many out-of-state cars, for instance. How many rental cars (from the airport, perhaps). Or, again, as a record for the next meeting.
