Jesus on Healthcare: "Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers that you do unto me also"
From Matthew 25:31-46:

34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

12. What exactly did you expect from a dirty socialist hippie?
That jerk had the nerve to claim that God even cares about sparrows. What a nut.

3. when right-wingers and religoids want to pretend that this is supposed to be a 'christian nation'...
they need to be reminded what 'christian' really entails.

along the same lines- do conservatives really believe that their deified 'founding fathers' intended for the u.s. to become a military empire?

the voters realize- painfully, that we've 'lost our way' as a country, and they really do want a strong leader to find our way back- i still hold out hope that obama can be that leader, and not just another corporate lackey to keep us rowing in circles(and ultimately down the drain).

14. Hey, don't forget that guy who was actually DEAD!
Hey, that must have cost a fortune! The guy must have been a zombie. Easily controlled by Jesus to take over the world. What happened to that guy? I don't remember a lot of Bible verses saying "Lazarus needs BRAINS!".

7. Sorry, Jesus got dibs on socialism with the "souls" thing. After that,
we're back to "bigger eats smaller".

Sorry: God's will.

8. Why does Jesus hate America?
There is a group that answers the question: the people of the Westboro Baptist Church. Why do O'Reilly, Limbaugh and the other guys hold WBC at arm's length, never confirming their status as the true moral spirit of the conservative movement, when they are the only ones that have the answer?

I know, I know, I shouldn't call them morons in this context. >sigh<

16. Jesus never asked for payment at the time services were rendered...
There was a movie about a physician in the time of Jesus I watched some years ago. He went in search of Jesus so he could follow him and instead found a group of poor and sick people. He wound up caring for them and in the end this was a passage that was told to him. I remember how moving that movie was and how we could all learn from that. It was very compelling.

I'm an atheist, but I still think this kind of lesson is very important whether a person believes or not. It's about compassion and why I think some of the lessons in the bible are valuable. The myths are as bogus as they come, IMO, but there are very important moral teachings, too.
