The man's head was all busted open and he was bleeding in the mugshot they showed on NBC 15. I'm trying to find it online now.

"They beat him all in his face, whoever he is" is one of the phrases that can be heard from an unknown woman on the other side of a camera capturing the dramatic conclusion to a police chase. Mobile Police stopped the suspect, David Pate, on Hillcrest Road near Airport Boulevard on July 23rd.
One of the cops caught on tape appeared to be repeatedly striking Pate, throwing at least four upper-cuts.
"Concerned me," says Mobile Police Chief Phillip Garrett about the video posted to YouTube. He says the video was brought to his attention Tuesday morning, but the chief says had already launched an internal investigation after what he calls 'red flags' in the late July capture.
"When you hear things, sometimes they're true, so you have to look at them," said Garrett.
Reporter Mike Rush responded, "So you had heard that an officer hit this suspect?"
"Well, I don't think the word hit was used," said the chief. "Something that may have been improper."
