Pelosi: Rowdy town hall protests are "Astroturf"

So we asked Speaker Pelosi -- after her finely-manicured photo op Tuesday at San Francisco General Hospital -- if she thought that those protests were a sign of genuine grass roots opposition to the Obama health care plan.

"I think they're Astroturf," Pelosi said Tuesday. "You be the judge.

"There is no question that people want to know what's in the legislation, want to know how it is paid for and know what it means to them. And that is why we have town meetings, either electronically or personally.

"Just because someone opposes their understanding of what this health care is, that's not a bad thing. But some of what is orchestrated to prevent the opportunity of presenting the plan, that's a different story," the Speaker said.

snip...
"These members are members of Congress," Pelosi said. "They know how to handle it. They're OK. They're OK. But they do have to know the difference between grassroots and Astroturf."

1. Everybody knows it. The practical question is: Does it matter?
It's not like there's a referee who's going to blow a whistle and penalize them 15 yards, after all.

that Congress's corporate pimps have been "found out/called out"....

Astroturf.....hmmmm.....that's "quite an old term", isn't it?

6. Astroturf
Not that old. It was invented in 1965 by two Monsanto employees.

5. Just like what ExxonMobil did with global warming
But even they didn't go into environmental meetings shouting people down.
