If you don't like the fact that some people here find his remarks offensive and he should be fired for it, then that's your problem.

I fucking hate Imus, I hate O'Reilly, I hate Hannity, I hate Limbaugh, I hate Coulter, I hate Savage, Beck and Malkin, I also hate Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzalez, Rice(ok well maybe Rice is just intense dislike), I could go on all day about the people I hate and the reasons I hate them. I never understood why people would feel ashamed for hating something that is inherently wrong.

15. In order to hate him, one would have to know him
what most sane people are saying is that he doesn't deserve nor has a right to a distribution deal for him to spew his filth. He needs to be off the air. This time, he may have gone too far--the toothpaste is out of the tube now and can't be put back in. He can't apologize enough because HE DOESN'T MEAN IT. He's been chastized before and claimed to want to make amends, but he can't because he is who he is and can't be who he isn't.

His whole show needs to be shut down. and if you don't like that, then you need to find someplace else to worship him.

59. what he has done for charity is non sequitur to the fact
that he has no right to distrubution/dissemination of his speech--that is what you and the rest of the like-minded people eager to give him a pass keep getting caught on. No one has a right to disseminate derrogatory speech.

All the good in the world he's done does not erase the fact that he has on MANY occasions said disparaging things about jews, blacks and women---has apologized before and said he wouldn't do it again and went ahead and did it again. He's false and insincere. And he's quite confused if he thinks that his right to free speech means that he gets to continue to be monitarily compensated for making disparaging, degrading remarks about people that he doesn't even know.

I don't even know the man to hate him. What I DO know is that he willingly engages in destructive behavior and is incapable of checking himself before he does--and it's his ACTION which I hate. Learn the difference.

18. Never step in front of a steamroller unless you want your face imprinted in asphalt.
Even if you are right, the steamroller is going to win.

I don't even know him enough to hate him. I have no idea whether he's a racist or a saint, I don't know if his comment was sarcastic, satirical, or filled with racial bigotry. I'm just standing here, watching the parade out of the corner of my eye as it passes, while I head off to other destinations. If Imus mattered at all to me I might bother looking up his comments to judge them in context, but even then, since I've never watched him, I wouldn't know how to judge them. So I am leaving it to those who know more about the person. If society is outraged enough, he will be gone, and if not, he won't be. I haven't watched MSNBC in years, and only assume he's on that channel because someone in this thread mentioned that network.

There are lots of people like me, who are disgusted by the comments, but don't know the host well enough to judge him. We aren't going to bother hating, but we aren't going to defend him or think nice thoughts about him for any reason. So you won't see us. The ones you do see will be standing on that steamroller, heading right at you. Good luck.

I will say I'll feel better about the world if Sharpton wins. I don't hate Imus, but if he doesn't know better than to make such comments, he's probably doomed, anyway. And it seems to me that racism and sexism are becoming too chic again. I'd love to see society redraw that line and smack anyone who tries to cross it. I know it's PC to be anti-PC these days, but I'm just non-PC enough to like some good old fashioned PC.

and that may mean that he is done spewing on the airwaves.

On the other hand he has a line of ecologically friendly cleaning products (profits go to charity), has the ranch for kids with cancer, has fought for autism research, raised millions of dollars for the Intrepid amputee center, and fights hard for veterans rights.

He's such a contrast. The bottom line is he can't have it both ways.

22. Or else what? I don't hate him - he's just another racist
talk show host whom I wouldn't watch or listen to if you paid me to do it. Fox has Rush and O'Really, CNN and ABC have Glen Beck, and msNBC has Imus. I made the mistake of having him on one day before my morning tea - ruined my morning. Why anyone would voluntarily watch these cretins is beyond me, but I won't give him the importance of expending any emotion towards him at all - he isn't worth it.

26. Don't you get it?
Imus wants the hate. It's the lazy person with no talent way of getting rich. Works for Imus, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, O'Reilly and all the others who very make very calculated "hate-speech" comments which get them veiwers. Hate is the new hard work. You use the hate to get the numbers which get you the dollars.
I hate Imus because he damages our collective soul. Yet, my hate is his fuel. He exists on my hate.
But the most lost are those who simply shrug and don't even feel outrage over racist and sexist remarks. Hate is beyond them. They're so numb they're useless to everyone.

34. if you don't consider
calling young women "nappy headed hos" damaging, then you are lost.
And does his helping people buy him a free pass? Does his "gazillion" dollars give him free license to be racist and sexist? Is that your world? Money buys the right to spread poison? And that's what it is. Poison. You should be calling the guy out. He called these wonderful young women "hos" for absolutely no reason. Or, maybe you can tell me his reason. What is it? Why did he say that about these women? I'd really like to know.
(by the way, there have always been horrid people who "helped more people than you could even dream of". However, they also hurt more people than you could even dream of, too. Words have consequences. Think of how people will feel entitled to treat young women just like "hos". Think of young girls playing basketball, achieving at school, who are denigrated to "nappy headed hos".
This is evil. And you can't buy your way out of evil.

And you didn't answer the question. What was the purpose of his term "nappy headed hos" for these accomplished young women?

have him lose what he cherishes most: his voice on the public airwaves. No amount of "sensitivity visits" to black colleges or whatever else they'll come up with will do the job. The problem is, there are enough people who think like he does who will be clamoring to have him back. It's all too sickening to think about too long.

Since I'm NOT a racist (this i know), then it must be everyone else who is trying to oppress Imus and anyone else who likes Imus. So, instead of thinking through what imus said and its implications, I'm going to accuse everyone else of being a fascist trying to silent my precious dissent!
