Suggestion For A Most Controversial Topics Page
How does a thread get on the Most Controversial Topics page?

1) List only those topics that have achieved a flaming icon.

2) The difference between recs and unrecs can not exceed 5. IF there are six or more of one than the other, the topic drops off as it is not controversial enough any longer.

3) The list of most controversial Topics will be sorted by number of responses. Those threads generating the most traffic with a synergy between recs and unrecs will, by the very nature of the methods listed, be the most controversial topics.

1. What's the point of having a forum where every thread is already locked?
:silly:

I figure the threads will move through the page so fast that the wind produced will cool the servers.

3. I'm not against the idea, but the scoring function for list order needs some thought...
It's not quite as trivial as some might think.

4. #2 isn't workable
If a topic collects many recs/unrecs, a difference of 5 would constitute a very-small dispersion; but one more would drop the topic. If a small-difference criterion were to be used, it would require a percentage cut-off -- but that would involve counting recs and unrecs, which I'm not sure the current system does.
