US pastor opens church to guns

A pastor in the US state of Kentucky told his flock to bring handguns to church in what he said was an effort to promote safe gun ownership.

Pastor Ken Pagano told parishioners to bring their unloaded guns to New Bethel Church in Louisville for a service celebrating the right to bear arms.

He said he acted after church members voiced fears the Obama administration could tighten gun control laws.

When the service began, some 200 people were present, AP news agency said.

I don't care if 200 people happen to show up with fully loaded pistols. The point is that they are doing this out of an unhealthy and irrational fear.

given that he says he supports the individual rights reading of heller, and that he hasn't done anything yet, i'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

otoh, considering the royal screwing over of GLBT he has done so far, maybe i should be more skeptical.

Why didn't they preypray to their God to be allowed to keep their guns? When O'bama didn't take their guns way, their prayers would be answered and they could credit their God.

Probably another one of these "non-denominational" fundie Religious-Reich congregations. :eyes:

("Non-denominational" used to mean "we're not interested in all these denominations each claiming that they're more Christian than the everyone else." Now, it's come to mean "we're not interested in the majority of Christianity because we're Christian, and those secular liberal non-'Bible-believers' are not!")
