If too many vote in favor of the plan, it means we will have given up too much---left too much on the table, for the sake of "passing a bill."
We should put everything we need and want in the bill, including a STRONG public option, such as in the House bill, and pass it as a reconciliation bill if we have to. We could do that. It would piss off the Republicans and the Blue Dogs, but
WHO GIVES A SHIT?
This isn't about THEM, it's about the PEOPLE, and the people want it.
LBJ tried to pass Medicare, and a watered down version of it was killed in committee because too damned many people would have voted for it, and we would have, after that, NEVER gotten Medicare the way it is today.
Fuck bipartisanship. Do the will of the people.
On edit: If we get a weak bill, I don't want the motherfucker to pass. Better no bill, than one they call reform but isn't true reform. If that happens, we will never get reform.
