1. Fortunately, the images are still available on their server.
I feel for these people, public characters or no. I really do.

3. It's kinda sad.
It's not exactly on the level of King Edward & Wallis Simpson but it's obvious from the emails that Sanford struggled with his feelings and responsilities.

7. It's human to struggle. The tragedy is that he lost that struggle.
Or, more properly, that his failure in this struggle dumps so much undeserved hurt on his family and on the community that held him up as a leader and role model.

Sanford was just one big fat glass house.

4. I feel for the boys.
I feel for the wife.

For the father, nothing.

2. They look like rich people. No criticism, just a comment. On his trip to be with his mistress:
I can't get it out of my mind that he left these wonderful looking boys at home on Father's Day.
Republican hypocrisy and cold heartedness is beyond me.

5. Perhaps he was denied seeing them. I'm a step mother. I was the one

who was cheated on, but the mother still feels betrayed to this day. My son is now 4, she still pulls irrational crap to this day. I expect she always will. AND she does it in a way that hurts a father from being with his son.. because she has nothing that would effect him.. she pulls the strings on their relationship. This Argentina tot cannot be something that feels great.. and who knows when she found out. She asked him to leave 2 weeks ago.. I doubt he had visitation priv. and she's a richy- rich. He'll be a bum on the street when she's through with him.

6. Infidelity can be a learned trait as much as it's a natural impulse
I hope one thing they learn from this is how much pain it causes to be dishonest about one's marriage and family commitments. I hope everyone, not just the Sanford family, picks up this lesson. It's not wrong because he was caught or because he was hypocritical: it's wrong because of all the people who feel betrayed by this selfish denial-immersed man.
