CNN has been running her "Larry King" special almost back to back. I can't help but think that CNN could have spent some of that time, actually educating us about Iran.. The Mohammed Mosaddeq Adventure is no longer taboo, and we surely need to know more about the Iraq/Iran war, and events leading up to the Hostage Taking, followed by the "October Surprise" meddling by Reagan's henchmen.

Seeing the ghastly pictures from twitter, over and over, and having a parade of willing "consultants
& experts" talking about a place they left 30 years ago, is starting to remind me a lot of the Chalabi affair.

Every "live piece" seems to also have the obligatory query.." What do YOU think that Obama should do"? Isn't he being too passive"?.. and when they refuse to play along, suddenly there's "no more time"..

1. very true
I like CA, but geez.

I wonder if CNN International is any better? I haven't been able to see that since DirecTv axed it.

CNN International is quit good compared to the CNN in US... Have CNN on cable - the international edition as it is. Even that is is verry "corned" to the american tradition, it is pretty good compared to most new shannels airing from the US..

But again, that is maybe becouse they HAVE TO be good, becouse on the outside of US, the world tend to be little more critical to what CNN is telling.. Even that the CNN tend to go little over the top when it come to "america first" attitude, I would say at least CNN Int is rather good.. Not as good as BBC, but fairy good..

But, when CNN Int is showing the shows what is been aired from US, the kvalitet tend to fall some down... But as long as the keep it international, the CNN is pretty good... Then again, I might be little picy of me, and are not fallig for this flagging on the screen all the time... It look of me, that most americans would leap of a cliff if someone had just waived a US banner before them..

2. They are no longer journalists.
Don't watch them.

I don't have CNN and I manage to stay informed just fine. This is not a personal dig at you. It is what I think everyone should do until they develop some journalistic standards.

Off topic, but was your doggie in a snowball fight? He/she is cute.

3. I've only watched a bit- but I was impressed by her
some guy was hyping the death toll and she forcefully said that we don't know the death toll and that hyping it was a bad idea. I'm paraphrasing but that was close.

4. I've found that before I could even focus on what is actually happening in Iran
I've have to first try to wrestle off the layer of coercive media happening right here. It's a lot easier to do if you go to the indy media first. fwiw.

5. You've got a good point.
I'm also getting pretty tired of seeing the same thing over and over and it would behoove any and all TV channels to drag out any and all documentary or historical footage they can, regarding Iran. Too many know way too little and I'd be willing to bet that quite a few viewers are thinking that this is about Iraq. :eyes:

I also can't sit through that dark video again, just listening to the screams... :scared:

However, I do admire the courageous work that Christiane Amanpour does. Not many reporters, especially women, would or could take these kinds of risks. And at least CNN is showing something newsworthy. Last I checked, MSNBC was showing their typical weekend prison crap. x(

6. So much for their credentials as a "news" channel, eh? (MSJOEMIKA)
Edited on Sun Jun-21-09 04:34 AM by SoCalDem
of course they could not be bothered.. Joe & Mika are on their Pensacola honeymoon book tour, and the Robots are in charge of the Prisoners We Know & Love Marathon...occasionally interrupted for "Solve a 15 Yr Old Crime that Was Solved 14 Years Ago/CSI"..

7. Exactly... I generally tune into MSNBC during the week,
KO, Rachel, Ed Schultz, David Schuster, they are the best. Though, if I'm home, I do change the channel at 3pm, since I prefer Rick ("Please taze me bro") Sanchez to Norah O'Donnell, who I can't stand. (She recently announced on-air that the Israeli PM was here to see President Bush!) Rick Sanchez did an impressively fair and thorough job of covering the most recent crisis in Gaza...

As for Joe Scar and Mika, I avoid them like I do the prison documentaries. What's up with them, anyway? I never liked him and since I read (here) of her involvement with him, they make my throat close. If that's the case, don't the producers care? And what about his wife and her husband? And then there's her father, one of the most brilliant men that anybody ever consults... Does nobody care about this?

I find news on weekends quite depressing. I totally agree with you about MSNBC. They generally show these ancient documentaries about serial killers (narrated by that creepy guy with the dramatically scary voice) which would creep me out if it was breaking news. What's their excuse when the world is on fire?! :eyes:

apparently they are an item, and a very blatant one, at that. Can you believe it?! :puke:

It's great to run into you! I was just thinking about you, actually... Haven't been on much, since my computer is still in pieces on the floor of my room. And I've been going to lots and lots of meetings... ;) :hi: :pals:

Thank you! I'm still hanging in here, and waiting... ;(

Some days are better than others. Today I went to a celebration from 4:30-9:30, which kept me occupied. I'm getting to know people and I brought Caesar salad... :-)

on edit: Oh, I also won a prize! A keychain... :woohoo:

Anyway, the point is moot now. Momentum is lost for the demonstrations. Unless you believe Tommy Friedman of the NYT. But I don't do Tommyspeak--I need a translator for that.

journalism she can do and what will be aired. A brilliant woman, she is not well-served by CNN.

You could go over to MSNBC and watch their horrid Lockup series or old Datelines.

Sorry to say...but the 24 hour news channels have cut back their weekend live programming to save money.

The revolution WON'T be TELEVISED on weekends and evenings after 10PM EST...that's what Twitter, Flicker, Facebook etal...are for.
