9. Not the easiest of maneuvers, but it is quite possible.
And if NK believes that such an attempt is "provoking" them, stopping a missile by shooting it down, then they really have lost their sanity. Every belligerent act they've done and yet they claim they are the ones being provoked. How are they being provoked? Nobody's really believing their excuses.

13. It doesn't matter...
...whether NK's feelings are justified or justifiable. The only thing that matters in this situation is that those feelings are apparently real. That is what will guide their behavior.

Though we did shoot a satellite out of space, so maybe there is a chance after all.

34. weren't that satellites coordinates fed to the missile's computer?
And I think I read just a couple weeks ago that simply painting a missile white hide's it from our star wars missile. It's still pretty much a crapshoot that it'll actually hit anything that we don't have complete control over...

35. Supposedly, the satellite was tracked and acquired by the same system.
The radar equipment they use to track the missles is supposed to be what they used to track the satellite.

The white thing is an urban legend. The system uses radar to track the targets. Now if someone developed a stealth missile, then they'd have something.

actually claimed that they would fire one of their Taepodong (pronounced "Type O' Dong" :P ) missiles toward us; Li'l Kim's type o' dong doesn't quite have the range to reach us. :P Sorry, guys, looks like you're stuck with me for a while.

7. Well, NK claims if they feel provoked they will declare total war...
Yet it's wrong (in NK's perception) for the rest of the world to say "No, to launch those missiles is an act of war" because they think they are being provoked... (telling someone not to use a big deadly weapon is not provoking them... they are already doing the provoking.)

I think there needs to be a consensus, but given NK's actions - which are extreme and not in a good way - but somebody might indeed fire back.

I'd just hope NK's leadership sees the light before they do something stupid. :(

First of all, North Korea should at least trying to have a missile that can fly.. For the moment they have not that... But again a near 60 year old design with a lot of flaws is maybe not the best start to treathen the rest of the world? Even I know that it is not just building a missile and hope it could hit a target 10.000km away. But then North Korea have been getting some help - from Pakistan to build better missiles.. And that know-how is still verry opperational even that the pakistan goverment denie it everytime it comes up...

But if North Koreas leadership was so stupid that it wanted to fire a missle to Hawaii, it wil be the end of North Korea as we know it.. And I am pretty sure that the US would for the first know about it in adwance becouse it is not so easy to prepare a missile to be shoot out.. And second I guess that every nation on the flyline would use their best weapon to try blow it up.. Japan have some decent Aegis cruises, who in theory should be more than capable of blowing a missile up anytime...

Do you have any idea how big the Pacific Ocean is? Where do you think all our missiles land when we test them?

23. Not unless it hits.
I'm all for trying to shoot it down if it's trajectory will bring it within a thousand miles of Hawaii. If we miss and it spashes down in the water, then there's nothing to do.

If it misses but detonates a nuclear warhead, then I think that's a declaration of war and it's time for an invasion and occupation of North Korea.

If it hits and detonates... glass'em. To let such an act go without immediate nuclear retaliation it something everybody on earth would regret.

37. It certainly won't have a nuke on it as they are a long ways from
miniaturizing a warhead to put on a missile. Then the missile has to work which is not a given with NK technology.

You see, if they were firing one "at" hawaii that would be an act of war.
