W Scolds Obama-'They Will Kill Americans At The Drop Of A Hat-Therapy Isn't Going To Change Them'
Bush says he won’t criticize Obama, then criticizes Obama
By John Byrne

Published: June 18, 2009

And then he did — in the same speech.

Speaking to rapt applause from a local business group in Erie, Pennsylvania, the retired Texan blasted President Obama for his handling of the US prison at Guantanamo Bay. President Obama has slated the prison for closure, and has signaled he’s willing to bring detainees he can’t find homes for overseas into US supermax facilities.

“I told you I’m not going to criticize my successor,” Bush said, according to a reporter present. “I’ll just tell you that there are people at Gitmo that will kill American people at a drop of a hat and I don’t believe that persuasion isn’t going to work. Therapy isn’t going to cause terrorists to change their mind.”

2. James von Brunn killed someone more or less at the drop of a hat too and
he wasn't in Guantanamo.

The junior Bush continues his public stupidity. Lucky for him there's no law against being a clueless asshole. If there were he'd be serving several life sentences.

3. Bush: I don't want to criticise Obama but ...
I will anyway and talk through my ass at the same time. WTF is he on about? Obama wants to transfer the detainees to other prisons - WTF does that have to do with 'persuasion'?

Bush seems to have gotten even dumber since he left the White House. :banghead:

8. Nobody is trying to rehab them Dippy.
The Supermax isn't about releasing people...ever. It's the ultimate warehouse of "dangerous non-reformable criminals."

There ain't a whole bunch of pimps and weed smokers there...unless they were smoking weed and pandering while committing mass murder...and I daresay if they were smoking weed they might NOT have been committing that mass murder in the first place...but I digress.

Ah ha--he's NOT criticizing him, then!! He's agreeing with him! He believes persuasion will work, but he's not a fan of "therapy."

Sounds like he could use some therapy--and a review of Junior HIgh English, as well!!!

It's King George The Second.

Besides, if Bush had detained the Gitmo residents legally, Obama WOULD be able to properly try, convict, and incarcerate them!

20. He may be right. There ARE some at Gitmo who are too dangerous to
release. Those few need to be tried and incarcerated along with those others we have deemed too dangerous to be released.

Most of the rest, send them home.

It seems to me the ones who will be needing therapy are the innocent who have been imprisoned for 7 years without charges. And maybe those who imprisoned them.

Edited on Thu Jun-18-09 09:00 AM by Frustratedlady
That their hands were carried away with joy and love, or were they deeply engrossed?

Are they suggesting the business group was in "rapture" with his words, or perhaps the sight of George?

A local newspaper used that in a headline some years ago to describe an attentive audience. :eyes:

32. How would he know- he failed to gather any information on them
How does he know who is in Gitmo? Part of Obama's problem closing it is that they found many of the people there had zero files on them. Meaning Bush fail to create any real record of who they are, are they dangerous... Bush couldn't put any of these people on trial. He has no clue who he has there yet alone know that any of them are really dangerous.
