I was cheating on DU this evening and fighting it out with RWers on another board. This particular thread was about RW radio.

I made a remark to the effect that I hadn't met a daily RW radio listener yet who did not have an ax to grind against some group for ruining the mythical paradise America used to be.

The terms are all broad one word labels so that you do not have to think too hard about it. All they require is an emotional reaction. They play their listeners for fools every day and laugh all the way to the bank. They love their role as shepherd to their flock of sheeple. Every time Rush says "dittohead" he is praising someone for their lack of skepticism and believing him without question. If someone implied such a thing to me I would be deeply offended, and therein lies the difference, liberals have no national radio voice because none is needed. We form our own highly varied opinions and take offense at anyone telling us how we should feel or think about anything.

Entire groups of people are hated by both sides. Some progressives sense of decency is offended when somebody prays to God.

For every group you mentioned that RW radio hosts scare their listeners with, there is an equivalent group that parts of the liberal blogosphere try to scare their readers with

Liberals - neocons
communists - fascists
hippies - fundies
Blacks - white males
Muslims - Christians
Frenchmen - southerners
Democrats - Republicans

As far as having an ax to grind, your name "ANGRYcarpenter" seems to imply that you have an ax to grind.

I am not saying that is a bad thing, but it seems to me like you are bashing them, not for being angry at the wrong targets, but simply for the fact of being angry.
