My email to O'Reilly (copied to Fox sponsors)
Two points before the email: 1) Yeah, I know he won't read it. 2) A friend of mine said I was too respectful, and if anyone here thinks the same, let me explain why. I wanted this to be factual and straight-forward, with no emotion, no name-calling, etc., so as not to detract from the logical question I'm asking. Anyway, here it is.
Dear Mr. O'Reilly,

On several occasions I have seen you run stories that are critical of various organizations and/or people, and when those organizations and/or people subsequently fall in line with your stated position, as they often have, you take credit (at least partial) for the change.

Why, then, considering all of your rhetoric about George Tiller, should you not take credit (at least partial) for creating or at least adding to the climate that incites domestic terrorists like Scott Roeder?

Is your influence that conveniently selective?

Thank you in advance for your answer,
(my name and city)

1. Effective email -- struck the right tone, too. . .
I'd drop the "dear" in the salutation (it connotes a degree of formality I prefer not to have with people such as O'Reilly), but overall, I believe a polite approach infinitely preferable and far more effective than a hyper, emotional tone, especially with "The Factor's" advertisers.

4. Why so restrained?
I sense you're blocking.

But as for the original letter, yeah, I think it struck the right tone. Who knows? It may actually make it to the attention of Himself. Not that anyone should expect any sort of response, except the self-serving, self-righteous motherfuckery we have all come to know and expect from Mr. O'Reilly, but somewhere, deep inside his cerebral cortex, there may still be some latent vestige of conscience that will be pricked, if only ever so slightly. Then Bill will get tanked up, and do a little drunk dialing to one of his producers.
