OK, I just got finished seeing Keith Olbermann's special comment on FOX News's complicity in the death of Dr. George Tiller. And the point was that "news" outlets like FOX News need to be put in a state of quarantine, since old-fashioned boycotts seem to have little effect on the right-wing media cartel.
If you see a business or organization, be it a store, restaurant, or something else, that happens to be playing FOX News on one of its TVs, demand that the channel be changed immediately, and if the business owner or other power that be refuses, take your business elsewhere and explain to him why.
Symbolically, Olbermann's giving up his nicknames, his caricature photo and his Ted Baxter impression of Bill O'Reilly for this quarantine. He's still going to report his words, but I'm sad to see the mockery go. Ridicule can be a potent weapon when it comes to dealing with the lies and sleaze coming from the right wing - their hypocrisy and lack of honesty make them quite vulnerable to ridicule, and the art of making people laugh at their expense has made one hell of a difference. Look what Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert accomplished on their shows - they made asses of the right-wingers on a regular basis, doing little more than repeating their words to make them laughing stocks. Nevertheless, I respect Keith Olbermann's decision, even though I'll miss the Ted Baxter voice. "WE'LL DO IT LIVE!!!"
I'm personally thinking of picking up a TV-B-Gone to help me do my part for the FOX News quarantine...
