Clearly getting an abortion the old fashion way is nearing impossibility but if Emergency Contraception and Mifepristone (the abortion pill also known as RU486) were made available then there would be an easier & safer way to deal with unwanted pregnancy than forcing a woman to find one of the few doctors still willing to perform the procedure.

For some states, EC is available over the counter and personally I think Mifepristone should be available at every GYN office (unlike EC, Mifepristone requires more monitoring from the doctor to ensure it is safely administered.).

That's just my two cents!


BTW if you or someone you love is a woman and sexually active I would keep EC available in the medicine cabinet for quick and easy use. EC can also be created by overloading your BC within 24-48 hours (there was a link to PP or NARAL that showed what combination for each brand of the pill). I also know that in my wallet I have a message requesting that if I go to a hospital I do NOT want to go to the one closes to me because it is a Catholic hospital. A few more blocks away is a non-religious hospital where I know that EC would be administered if I show up there after being raped.

And by Obama, in his ever dedicated to bipartisanship mode they are always so respectfully deferred to, despite their goal of preventing women from controlling their own bodies, then I don't expect things to change much.

I still haven't been able to learn if Obama ever even reversed Bush's reversal of Clinton's lifting of the ban on Federal employee health plan abortion coverage.
