Amid queries, CIA worries about future
well they should...

~snip~ Battered by recriminations over waterboarding and other harsh techniques sanctioned by the Bush administration, the CIA is girding itself for more public scrutiny and is questioning whether agency personnel can conduct interrogations effectively under rules set out for the U.S. military, according to senior intelligence officials.

Harsh interrogations were only one part of its clandestine activities against al-Qaeda and other enemies, and agency members are worried that other operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan will come under review, the officials said.

CIA Director Leon Panetta said he has established a group at the agency to handle requests for documents by Congress, the prosecutors and any "truth commission." The agency is facing a dispute with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) over how much agency officials told congressional overseers about the harsh techniques.

1. Harsh?
I think it would be better if we all turned a blind eye to military procedure. They are doing their own thing the best way they see fit and who are we to tell them they are wrong.

10. we're their employers
That's who we are. They are operating on our dime and we have every right to tell them when they are in the wrong. I served in the USMC in my youth so I know what I'm talking about, you don't just turn the military loose to do any damned thing they please.

16. "we" and "them"?
spoken as a typical RW chickenhawk. Obviously, NO ONE in your family has ever served their country, or you would realize we ARE them. You want your blind eye and blissful ignorance of what your hired mercenaries do to serve your sorry country club ass.

9. Maybe Panetta should establish another group to handle selling off the fixtures
after that parasitic crime and torture operation finally gets flushed down the toilet. That day is coming, mark my words, and all the little insects are going down with it.

12. It might look peachy to them to not investigate
and not prosecute, but when people already know of crimes, all that does is color the entire agency with those crimes. So in the long run, harboring criminals has a cost.

15. They are going to get away with their crimes...
They were only taking orders. And those that gave the orders are going to get off also.

17. Maybe not.
The investigations have just begun and we haven't begun to drill down. Thanks to their lame Pelosi ploy, the chances are good we will. Pelosi last Thursday:

"I've always believed the Congress and the administration must review the National Security Act of 1947 -- now, we have a chance to do that."

18. I don't think that at all
I think they've pushed the envelop so far that we will have to do something this time. They've been getting off over the years I know but all good things has to come to an end. It's coming to an end as I type here now. There will be some serious assed investigations happening here soon and at first it'll seem that it's only going to be the same O, same O but as new revelations come out the tone will change. Bushco is going down this time, bfee more that likely right along with them too. America will see some more good days, that I believe very much.

Bunch of miserable thugs.
