Obama, Biden satisfy sizzling burger craving

By BEN FELLER – 40 minutes ago

ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — It's like this: When you want a burger, you have to have a burger.

In this state of mind, President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden took a short — but wholly noticeable — motorcade ride from the White House to Virginia and pulled into a small, independent burger joint called Ray's Hell Burger.

The two leaders went right up to the counter where the meat was being grilled and ordered.

Each fetched cash from his pocket and paid, and then the pair stood like the rest and waited for their number to be called before going to a table.

The restaurant, which prides itself on premium aged 10-ounce burgers, sits in a small strip plaza. The burgers sell for $6.95.

4. Yanno, I'm glad we once again have a president who wants to also be a resident
Our best presidents embraced being just citizens, too.

I like that they stood in line.

I like that they each paid.

I like that.

6. Frederick's a funny area
Part of it is as batshit crazy conservative as can be imagined. And part of it is the liberality for Maryland is known. The further west one goes from there, the more batshit crazy it gets.

7. We met an Intel type fellah in the elevator...
...crispy suit and Army haircut. As we awaited the elevator, he gave my boy some razzing because he was wearing a Detroit Tigers jacket and a NY Yankees cap. "Mixed signals, eh?" he said to my son. He seemed a nice guy. I figured he was in town to demonstrate stuff at Ft. Dietrich or some NSA outfit.

We did meet some cool people, too. My wife's college friend and her family entertained us in Baltimore. The guy looks like Capt. Pickard from Star Trek's brother. And he sounds like him, too! Witty and open-minded and a great host. Within five minutes of meeting me, he told me he doesn't stomach Republicans because they won't listen to reason regarding Smirko Bush. It was the start of an instant lifelong friendship.

They invited us to stay with them and I wish we had. I don't think we'd have left!
