This is good, NY wants Spitzer back..................
The latest Marist Poll is a mixed bag for Gov. David Paterson (D-NY). It's partly bad news -- and partly really bad news.

This number must really hurt: When New York's registered voters are asked whether they would rather have Eliot Spitzer or David Paterson as governor, it's Spitzer 51%, Paterson 38%.

The horse-race numbers are also a sight to behold. In a primary with state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, the current leader is Cuomo by a 70%-21% margin. Paterson trails in a general election match-up with Rudy Giuliani by a 56%-32% margin, and trails former GOP Rep. Rick Lazio by 40%-37%. By contrast, Cuomo leads Rudy by 55%-38%, and swamps Lazio by 67%-22%.

1. Will Paterson fight back by joining the VIP Club?
He COULD call it a jobs-creation plan.

20. Patterson is way too wishy-washy for these times, and New
Yorkers are pissed and out for blood. Despite his indescretions, they want a Pit Bull like Spitzer to go after the dirtballs in the banking and financial institutions and prosecute. That's what he does best and probably why he was "outed" in the first place.

3. I'd love to have Spitzer back.
The GOPers do far worse than he did and they are still around. Someday maybe we'll learn the whole story.

6. I wrote it was a setup, and I was harangued for it
Vitter is still in the Senate after bumping uglies with ho's. Spitzer was railroaded in my not so humble opinion.

12. I'll have to agree with you there.
At least Spitzer 'fessed up and said he was sorry. Fine. He's paid his dues while Vitter dennies and lies and goes on being the sleazebag he truly is.

14. And notice after he was gone, the Paterson "cheating'" didn't cause
anyone to bat an eye. He was set up to get him off the backs of the banks, I am sure of it.

16. Spitzers cheating was the last straw in a piss poor
administration that couldn't do anything but bumble and make a arse out of itself!

IF it had only been the cheating he would likely have survived but it was Troopergate(NY's version) the way he was mishandling working with the Senate and Assembly etc. etc. etc..

The guy screwed up one timne to many in to short a period.

4. Kind of an unfortunate turn of a phrase, no?
"The horse-race numbers are also a sight to behold."

Paterson has turned out to be a huge disappointment.

10. Rick Lazio for Governor?
You may remember Rick Lazio, who as a boyish Republican congressman ran against Hillary Clinton for Senate and disastrously invaded her space in a debate. Having since leaving the house enriched himself at JPMorgan Chase, Lazio is said by the Times to be considering a run for the Governor's office. On the plus side for Lazio, previously presumed GOP gubernatorial hopeful Representative Peter King is now more focused on the 2010 Senate race; Rudolph Giuliani has shown some interest, but is, to put it politely, mercurial (not to mention, to put it less politely, rebranded as a loser). And Lazio collected a modest post-electoral war chest and has been talking to Arthur Finkelstein. On the downside, no one has paid any attention to him in years, he can be easily tied to the unpopular Republican old guard as well as Wall Street, and he now looks like Grandma who retired to Florida and pulled her hair back for a skit at the community center.

11. That's my families opinion too
Not all of them Dems, but all of them dislike Patterson. Apparently going after the government unions hasn't won many fans among the state employees. If you're not liked in Albany by the civil servants that's a bad sign.

13. I never wanted Spitzer to quit.
I voted for him. He was supposed to give me four years of hard work in exchange for my vote. Where are my four years?

He let them sucker him twice. Once when he thought he could use prostitutes in privacy, and then when he quit from the clamor. PIFFLE.

17. This is good news, though. Cuomo can beat Paterson AND Ghouliani easily.
Hopefully he runs.
