What are the chaces of universal health care in this nation if H1N1 (Swine flu) runs amok?

If this nation only changes because of big events... Social Security and Medicare because of the Depression, public hospitals because of TB, public health because of Yellow Fever and then later the Civil War... Do the chances of universal health care improve if this nation undergoes an epidemic like H1N1 (Swine flu)?

1. Better, I would say
Because there will be people who won't be able to afford to go to the hospital to get vaccines or whatever they recommend for treatment.

5. I think if we have a pandemic with a high death rate
like 1918, the economy will collapse totally. Everything would come to a standstill for the duration.

We've been preparing for an Influenza Pandemic for many years. We been preparing in very detailed ways for the last 4 years. If anything the US surviving the current "epidemic" will give opponents ammo for keeping the status quo.
