Baclofen-Rite Aid-$30, CostCo-$19.98, Ibuprofin-Rite Aid-$19.99, CostCo-$7.98
Edited on Sun Apr-01-07 07:12 PM by fed-up
I just had to get a prescription filled last Friday. I went first to RiteAid as I had forgotten to call around first to find the best price and RiteAid was closest. When I asked how much it would cost as I don't have insurance, the clerk told me that I should go to CostCo as it would be cheaper and that I did not need to be a member to buy prescriptions there..... yes, she was more than right!!

Baclofen-
Rite Aid-$30,
CostCo-$19.98,

Ibuprofin
Rite Aid-$19.99
CostCo-$7.98

edited to add that baclofen sucks! Took one pill at 9pm on Thursday evening and wasn't clear headed until 2pm the next day. I am supposed to be taking 3 pills a day....It did reduce my muscle spasms a bit, but did leave the dull pain which is why I guess I have avoided "conventional" medical tratment up til now for degenerative disc disease.

And the tylenol 600 mg, only takes the edge off the pain..

1. I am a Costco believer!
Al of my scripts and almost everything else comes from there.

2. $4 - Walmart
This is one instance that I don't have a problem buying from Walmart. Walk in, buy, leave. Baclofren and Ibuprofin are both on the list.

3. what is the sam's club program?? my favorite question to ask when I go into Walmart
with my boyfriend (yes, I cringe every time I go in) is

"Where can I find one of those "Not Another Walmart signs?"

would you believe that the three times I have done this in the last six months 5 out of 6 clerks have tried to point me in the direction of the isle with signs. Only ONE person understood what I was asking for and started cracking up. :)

We have an active campaign going against a SECOND walmart in my town. They also want to supersize the first....

4. Generic Sleeping Medication
For one month (recent price comparison)

Neighborhood Pharmacy - $81
Walgreens - $57
Insurance co-pay - $20
Wal-Mart - $4

So, my insurance company (back when I had it) was making a few hundred percent profit just on my co-pay. And every other pharmacy was trying to make a few thousand percent profit. Seems reasonable.

I don't understand why we have an insurance crisis in this country.

:sarcasm:
:argh:

5. Can't stand Rite-Aid
In our small community we have 3 of their awful stores. All of them are deserted, dark, depressing and junky.
They hold the lease to the store Big Lots was renting, doubled their rent and now Big Lots is leaving. Guess that is the only way that pathetic corporation can make it.

They make me sick.

6. I can't take NSAIDS, and I agree... tylenol sucks for pain
Useless.

And now I find the painkillers that I'm prescribed, while they help, tend to make me so nauseous, I'd rather hurt!

I'm sorry the baclofen isn't working for you. I find the same thing with muscle relaxants, no matter how mild they're supposed to be. I'm a zombie for a couple of days after taking just one. My husband had the exact same rx as me, only double the strength -- hardly effected him at all.

I guess some people are just way more sensitive.

I'm sorry for your pain!

7. Don't need a prescription for Ibuprofen - has been OTC for a long time. I buy the huge bottles of
Ibuprofen at Target - 750 of the 200 mg tablets or caplets for 9 or 10 bucks.

8. I lucked out and my total was only $4.76, cuz they punched in wrong middle initial
for my name, of course I did not correct the error as I found out after I got home. Looks like someone else's insurance covered the rest of the cost. Yes, it is the right medication....just to "wrong" person

and no, I don't feel guilty for not notifying them of the error

I can't do huge amounts as I already have other dietary/digestive issues, so the bottle of 15 will last a long time. especially since it makes me shaky and feeling icky

this is why I am not a druggy, I have a very low threshold for most drugs. I am hoping they DO NOT prescribe pain relievers as that would definitely make me a basket case.
