Sunday driving in perhaps the reddest county in the nation
Taking the whole family out for Sunday lunch. I live in a very Republican area, and the bumperstickers reflect the spirit of my home county. I have come to just accept the stupidity and move on. If I dwell on what I see on my daily drives, I would probably lose my mind.

Today I was taken back by an amazing sticker. We came up to a mini-van at a stop light. The van had two stickers - one said something about a nation that aborts its babies is doomed, or such nonsense. See, I'm used to that and I just pass it off. But the other sticker set this middle-aged, slightly overweight WASP to a point of no return. My wife had to control me from doing something stupid like actually confronting the idiot.

BLACKS DIDN'T ASK FOR SLAVERY
JEWS DIDN'T ASK FOR THE HOLOCAUST
BABIES DON'T ASK TO BE ABORTED

My wife had to settle me down. Granted, I am a man, white, and raised protestant. I just can only imagine how an African American, or Jew, or pro-choice woman would react to such a thing. My wife had to tell me to calm down and let it go. I still can't let it go.

And, to top it off, two more stickers at the restaurant. "Conservative in exile" and "I'll keep my cash, you can keep the CHANGE." After the stop light, I was glad I never saw the occupant of this vehicle. As someone has said here, "The stupid hurts."

1. Sorry, I live in the reddest county in America
registered DEMS: 6
not 6000, not 600, just plain ol, single didget 9.

Obama did get 13 votes here though. We use pencils and hand count with teams to verify.

2. Well as a jew, and the daughter of a holocaust survivor
you learn to either ignore that stupid or confront it

At a stop light I'd choose the ignore option

Now at other places, I have quietly let it drop that this is a statement I find offensive, as is conflating issues and perhaps they need to pick up a book

3. I hear you. I wish I had a picture of this, but the KoC in one small
town about 60 miles from me worships uteruses. Really. They have an iron (?)painted sculpture on their property with three uteruses, sort of in pyramid position, each with silver fetuses in them. It's pretty disturbing.
