Media Protects it's Own, Once Again! Mary Matilin to join her Hubby as CNN Political Consultant
Edited on Thu Apr-23-09 05:02 PM by KoKo
Is this just more of the "Media/Industrial Complex?" If so...how long must we suffer these insufferable Pundits who recycle themselves over and over in their little close knit Club? When will our FCC ACT? Nepotism...News as Infotainment...News as Celebrity...News in the Gutter as hard working "gum shoe reporters" are laid off from Major News papers go down and as Major Newspapers (also part of the nepotism) go down. It's a long road down....and most of us here, get our news from reporters for blogs that we trust. Maybe the Cable/MSMedia is just all in it's last death rattle scrambling to survive by pushing "Tweets and Twitters" and "Bells and Whistles" of new whiz bang sets with flashing lights, interactive maps and all the trappings of "enhancement" that the HDTV Flat Screen Crowd loves. But in the end...with no substance beyond the bright colors and flashing lights.

Mary Matalin joins CNN
@ 4:13 pm by Jeremy P. Jacobs

Republican strategist Mary Matalin is joining CNN's political team.

The cable news network announced Thursday that Matalin will appear on "Anderson Cooper 360," "State of the Union with John King" and the "Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Matalin has previously worked as an assistant to President George W. Bush and counselor to Vice President Dick Cheney. She was also a top strategist on George H.W. Bush's successful 1998 presidential campaign.

For Matalin, joining CNN's team is all in the family. Her husband, Democratic strategist James Carville, is also a analyst for the network.

4. CNN isn't rightward-leaning enough already?
Matalin is right-wing poison. Smug, nasty, and about as objective as Ahmadinejad is on the subject of Israel.

CNN must be looking to pull in some more advertising money from corporations that sell in red states, or something.

5. In the Koko Household it's known as the "War Channel"
Blitzer made his career out of the "Flashing Lights of the Bombs on Iraq" in Bush I's Invasion. Rememember that guy from the Weather Channel who was hunkered down with a CNN Big Wig Reporter in the Hotel in Baghdad showing the "rocket red glare"...like 4th of July for American Patriots so worried about Saddam invading Kuwait that they just HAD TO GO IN. It was like flicking that BIG DICK all over the ME with fanfare from CNN...and Blitzer went on to be the Star of CNN working three shows a week and probably buying many nice suits and ties.

6. I've never seen the Weather Channel
We don't get American TV here, and the CNN international is mostly stuff from their
London and Hong Kong studios. Blitzer is on with his "situation room," where he
struts around like a pompous ass (probably not much of an act, either), but that
starts at midnight my time, so I usually watch German TV or sleep, both of which
seem like better options.

7. DU ExPats for Jobs or whatever often post that the CNN or CNBC "THEY SEE" over there
is much different from what we get here in America. One does have to wonder just why that is, though.

Why are American Audiences fed Propaganda ...yet the audience in another country is quite different?

8. I don't get CNBC here, either
Just the CNN international, and I don't watch it much. I guess their advertisers figure that no
one here at all will watch the crap they must put on CNN-USA. CNN international is watched by
quite a few foreigners, so if they want to retain any viewers at all in the international
community, they had better offer something on a higher plane than Wolf Blitzer--and so they
usually do. Putting on a show with Mary Matalin might violate German anti-Nazi laws. I
remember seeing the first episode of "West Wing" where they made fun of her ("Mary Marsh").
Nicely done.

10. CNN is very, very different overseas
A lot of international news and very little American politics and very little to no coverage of the latest murder/courtroom drama.

I'm sure they would make the argument that they are only giving the American people what they want.

But you're theory is probably closer to the truth: propaganda AND distractions.

13. Who's next? Scooter LIbby?
Mary Matalin was part of the White House Iraq Group
Enough said. She has an EXTREMELY vested interest in slanting the news in a particular direction. CNN should not hire her.
