I'd rather prosecute the ones that gave the torture orders
rather than the ones that carried them out.

They always blame the little guy.

6. That's true. And it also certainly true that higher ups should have

been prosecuted as well. Had Abu Ghraib been investigated like it needed to be investigated...from the top down...higher ups would be in prison right now.

3. It's because the big fish have the most power and the best lawyers...
It's like blaming the minimum wage checker when you buy something defective or contaminated at Wal-Mart. :-(

Though I do think that these poor underlings should have mental health check-ups. Doing stuff like that has to take its toll. x(

5. the actual hands that tortured
will never have peace in their soul. they WERE following orders but had to know on a human level these orders were immoral. I agree with you, the little guy is not nearly as guilty and I even had trouble with Lyndie England, the very low brow little guy who only wanted to follow the lead given her. the entire episode in our history is dark and must be cleansed with prosecution. here's hoping!

8. I'd rather we prosecute both...
but unfortunately to nail the bastards that ordered it, we'll probably have to give the assholes who did it some kind of immunity in order to flip and testify against the ones who ordered it.

I'm telling you, Cheney is shitting his pants. That's why he's out there. If these people could commit such heinous acts as torture, not just once, but at least 266 times, then they are probably capable of anything.

We need to be a little more suspicious of these people. Isn't it a tad bit odd the same people who got around to committing war crimes were involved in a controversial election, where they wouldn't have won but for some antiquated technicality and a decision by 9 people?
