Potheads bigger problem than Torturers.
Apparently anyway.

Because President Obama said this bullshit would end and yet today he says he wants a 5 YEAR SENTENCE for a grower arrested here in Cali.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/04/21/BA1V175SB9.DTL&tsp=1

So he can go back on his word, not give a shit about what Californians voted for, and this torture shit just gets swept under the rug?

Good to know our priorities are super solid here in.. Going after them durn terrorist potheads and were gonna torture them by denying them a Mountain Dew and Funyuns.

1. I posted about this the other day
Not this particular case, but the idea that torturers get forgiven, but pot smokers are in jail by the hundreds of thousands.
Please President Obama, turn this injustice around!

2. One thing is for sure.
Our "democratic" leaders are far better liars than the neo-cons are.

4. Potheads are only worse than torturers if they burn your skin with joints
:hide:

Yes, I know better than that. They're too busy relaxing with joints to even think about hurting anyone.

5. Everyday I think I won't be as disappointed as I have been in the last few weeks
and then something else is destroyed. What's REALLY behind the curtain? The drug companies? Don't the President and the Feds realize they will be encouraging more underground growing? Of course, if that's the case, the prison networks gain too. I just want to get off this crazy merry-go-round to see if there's any stable ground left!

6. Seems like we all have the same problems with "reality"

I don't get it either. Although prosecuting him was probably not Obamas decision, I support the gist of your thread.

8. This does raise a state's rights question in my opinion.
I know "states rights" has been a "codeword" for racism in the past, but I believe that medical marijuana is an issue where the rights of the states to make their own laws should take precedence.

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

There is nothing in the United States Constitution that prohibits a state from making laws that do not interfere with interstate commerce. I think California's regulations on the medical marijuana establishments in its state are enough to keep it from interfering with interstate commerce.

14. "no single leader can make a change"
Can no single leader at least speak out in favor of sanity?

Many years ago, a commission set up under Nixon to study the drug war issued their annual report which said the war doesn't work and we should legalize.

That year the report wasn't published (although its findings made the news).

What's stopping Obama from at least talking like a sane person? He's not stupid, so what the fuck?

13. This case is shitty, but your post is misleading
This guy was charged under Bush's Justice Dept before Obama was elected. No idea how that translates into "Obama said he wants a 5 YEAR SENTENCE".

The guy obviously needs to appeal if he loses, if he didn't break state and/or federal law then he'll be cleared under Obama and Holder's directive.
