Is it my imagination
or, in "show business," are there more look-alikes than ever before?

Or is it that I'm getting too out of touch to tell these young stars apart?

If I'm right, what is it doing to us as a society to be constantly narrowing the range of what is considered physically acceptable?

1. Anything successful is copied.
The corporatism of show business is a cookie cutter.

2. i think it's your imagination
in the 70's, it seemed like nearly every (white) rock guy had long hair parted in the middle.

you barely ever saw shaved heads, for instance, let alone dreadlocks.

not to mention a distinct lack of muscular types. now, we have our vin diesels, etc/

3. So you don't think all the plastic surgeries, botox, etc. are making a difference?

i just think we have way more diversity in artists/performers/etc. now than we have ever had before, both stylistically and visually.

4. No. Especially with blond women
Either on a TV series or on CNN they are all with long blond hair, and the more "flips" the better and I really cannot tell them apart.

One of the earlier seasons of "24" had so many blond young things that it was really impossible to tell them apart.

7. In another ten years, you won't CARE that you don't know the people on the covers.
And you'll be fine with that.

10. The saving grace of 50
Is that when I see an 18 year old in a bar, I am not yet old enough to be his grandfather by the standards of my culture, which I would define as being age 66. However, I am quite aware that I am probably only 4-10 years younger than his actual grandfather.
