Man pleads guilty after weapons cache found in Norco home
Man pleads guilty after weapons cache found in Norco home

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

(03-28) 11:56 PDT Riverside, Calif. (AP) --

A man pleaded guilty to explosives and weapons charges stemming from the discovery of a huge cache of guns and ammunition when his home caught fire early this month.

Thomas McKiernan, 62, of Norco, admitted to possession of explosives, possession of an assault weapon and resisting arrest in a plea deal Tuesday that saved him from two additional assault-weapons possession charges.

"We didn't prosecute him for having a gun collection. We prosecuted him for storing volatile materials," Deputy District Attorney Michael Mayman said.

Authorities responding to the blaze at McKiernan's home on March 1 found more than 1 million rounds of ammunition, numerous weapons and a tunnel stocked with barrels of food and water.

If this assault rifle owner isn't a threat to society, I don't know who is.

1. How was this a threat to society?
He wasn't hurting anybody with what he was doing, at least not as related to firearms. They don't specify what explosive he was keeping there, so it could be anything from bulk gunpowder for handloading to dynamite to C4. But the fact that he had firearms had nothing to do with him being a danger to society. And considering how anal and complex Califoria's definition of an illegal weapon is, I'll reserve judgement on what his 'possession of an assault weapon' violation was.

The guy was obviously an end-of-worlder, or at least preparing for a breakdown of society. Considering the natural-disaster-prone state he lives in and the way BushCo is running the country, that's not as wild as it might seem.

3. When rounds are going off while firefitghters try to put out the flames...........
Why worry about when it ends, nobody has lived long enough to see the end. Being at the front of the line or the back of line isn't going to matter much as, as much as i can figure at just about any rate
