Food(human and pet) recalls. Check this out. Amazing!
http://www.fda.gov/opacom/7alerts.html

I decided to check what the FDA had to say about the pet food recalls and was very shocked to see the other things on the list. I will make it a point to check this list weekly. It is now in "Favorites"

1. The HUMAN food and water and healthcare pipelines
have ALREADY been POISONED by unregulated Capitalism. I can only hope that the acute sicknesses and deaths of so many irreplaceable, loyal companions will be a WAKEUP CALL!!!

4. They'll just testify, "I can't recall"
When hearings are finally held to find out why this is happening

Then, They testify they can't recall

But at least they can recall now

8. Thanks.
Thanks for posting this. If you go to that website, you can sign up to receive recall notices by email. I decided to do that - cause I'd never heard of many of these recalls. It seems it isn't reported in the news unless alot of people (or pets) are sickened or killed.

12. this thread reminded me of Bu$h's FDA appointment
** had appointed Lester Crawford to head up the FDA

didn't last long
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lester_Crawford

Crawford received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Auburn University in 1963 and a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Georgia in 1969.

Lester Mills Crawford (born March 13, 1938) is a former Commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Crawford resigned from the FDA in September, 2005 - just two months after his approval by the Senate. On October 17, 2006, he pleaded guilty "to conflict of interest and false reporting of information about stocks he owned in food, beverage and medical device companies he was in charge of regulating."

13. Drug recalls, too
I had posted a GD forum thread yesterday about a Parkinson's drug recall...then today saw an article about Zelnorm (for irritable bowel--that commercial that show's women's bellies) but was hesitant to post any other drug recall threads cuz no one responded to the initial Parkinson's drug thread.
ANYway, here is the Zelnorm info. I don't see it on the FDA list, unless I have missed it:

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/033107dnnatnovartis.170b9486.html

Swiss pharmaceutical maker Novartis AG will stop selling a widely advertised prescription drug to relieve constipation after it was linked to a higher chance of heart attack, stroke and worsening chest pain that can become a heart attack, federal health officials said Friday. Novartis agreed to withdraw Zelnorm at the FDA's request, the agency said in a public health advisory.

Earlier this year, Novartis gave the FDA the results of 29 clinical studies of Zelnorm for treatment of a variety of gastrointestinal tract conditions. The analyses showed 13 of 11,614 patients given Zelnorm had serious and life-threatening cardiovascular side effects, while just one of the 7,031 patients given dummy pills did, the FDA and Novartis said in separate statements.

FDA officials described the cardiovascular side effects as "a very rare event." Still, "we concluded the benefits of this drug no longer outweighed the risks for patients," said Dr. John K. Jenkins, director of the FDA's Office of New Drugs.

The FDA has told Novartis it would consider allowing a limited reintroduction of Zelnorm "if a population of patients can be identified in whom the benefits of the drug outweigh the risks," the agency said

14. FDA - Counterterrorism - Food Security...
http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/bioterrorism.html

# Countering Threats to the Food Supply (www.FoodSafety.gov)
# Animal Drugs/Animal Feed Counterterrorism (FDA/Center for Veterinary Medicine)

So, who are the food terrorists now? Certainly not Al Qaeda, so it seems.
