Dhamma Brothers
I went to a showing of this moving documentary last night. If you get the chance to see it, please please go.

It's about so much more than just the meditation technique these guys learn, but about the PEOPLE in prison, their lives before and after, who they are, their families, their pain, their thoughts.... (plus an indictment of the Prison system - especially in Alabama- and of narrow-minded "christians" who'd rather a man suffer than risk even the possibility of anything other than "GAWD" being their salvation....

1. Christian ignorance is astonishing
when it comes to the Buddhist technique of meditation. The technique itself is completely compatible with Christianity, as are other Asian techniques from Kung Fu to Yoga to eating stir fries.

I fell into meditation quite by accident as a way of dealing with pain in my early teens that no one would believe I had.

That it would help these guys deal with the psychic pain of who they once were and what their future is likely to be because of that is no surprise to me.

Sadly, the ignorance of the conservative Christians comes as no surprise to me, either.

Meditation is one of the most humane practices that you can practice.

It won't make a political activist less passionate.

It might, however, make you more com-passionate.

Thanks again.
