Save a Cop's Life!
With a massive ten-year project to improve conditions and rehabilitative programs in the nation's prisons, and new sentencing guidelines with reductions of outrageous sentencing across the board.

Just sayin'...

3. That would have to be a necessary part of the reforms
You can't have 60 year sentences for property crimes, despicable prison conditions, increased availability of arms, and a safe police force.

The punishment fetishists incentivize violence against the police and others.

4. Agreed. Make them run by government and completely transparent.
Private prisons have driven the push to imprison more Americans. They're the main reason we now have twice as many prisoners as we did 25 years ago, and why we lead the world in rate of incarceration. Remove the profit motive.

6. But..but...that's coddling criminals!
We don't want to rehab them! We just want to put them in an animal factory for a few years before putting them back on the streets where we make it even harder for them to do the right thing by saddling them with ancillary consequences of felony convictions.

Hey - it's the American way.
