9. Here's the wikipedia article on it

And a related technology which accomplishes the same thing...

With another rather revealing image showing the output of these devices.

I'll call it what it is: an electronic strip search.

21. no we don't need it
Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 02:58 PM by undergroundpanther
But pervs in power think they need it,just like men ignoring the rates of human trafficking think they NEED porn.

Need, want and addiction have become very confused in this country

Power, abuse, domination and Porn have similarities. This scan is just another way to exploit bodies and the people inside the bodies psychologically and emotionally. Abusers take the intimate, the private, of a person they expose it ,invade it and make it a public show to further dis-empower people.I hate authoritarians.

Whoever exterminated all these hecatombs of people, did not take into account, and perhaps had no way of knowing that, having passed through the fire they would gain a lasting power which would combine with the power of those still living. This power draws us, who are here addressing you by letter, out into a shrieking whirlwind where no memorial ceremonies with talking, singing, drinking and laughing presidents and chancellors will be able to find us.

22. I'm the kind of person, who
even back in my hippie days 40 years ago, was so modest that I wouldn't disrobe at a nude beach -- even when everybody around me was butt naked. I'm not ashamed of my body -- I still look pretty good for a 62-year-old -- but I want a choice as to whom I show it to. The TSA doesn't fit in that category.

The heart of TRUE feminism. And it is beautiful to know it is still around.Far more rare and beautiful than most here will ever comprehend.Thank you for being yourself while others who may have not wanted to do it, still disrobed like lemmings on command thinking it was all about sexual freedom.

25. Airport strip scanners: A *chalk outline*? Not bloody likely.
"Backscatter" X-Ray Screening Technology

TSA Promises Privacy For Subjects Of Clothing-Penetrating Scans, October 11, 2007

But, don't worry... be happy:

TSA officials said Friday they had worked with industry specialists to blur any images of body parts generated by the scan, and likened the resulting picture to
"a chalk outline" of a person.

US airport debuts controversial X-ray scanner, February 25, 2007 (Phoenix)

US airport debuts controversial X-ray scanner ("virtual strip search"), February 24, 2007

Michael Chertoff is behind all of this. In February, 2005 he became DHS head.

Airport Screeners Could Get X-Rated X-Ray Views, May 24, 2005

A *chalk outline*? Not bloody likely.

While we are being stripped at airports all over the country under the old Bush Junta Rules, only a fraction of luggage in the holds of the airlines is checked thoroughly.

It's time to demand that this wanton invasion of our privacy end, and END NOW.

26. Larry "Wide Stance" Craig now has a new hangout.

Instead of train station rest rooms, you will now find him in close proximity to airport body scan machines.

And of course, you understand he's on a Congressional fact finding mission. :eyes:
