Looks like Big Ed is getting
a try out on 1600
I like his in your face style.
Plus he doesn't talk all over people as they try to answer.

3. It is radio
I think that since there is no visual stimulus, they have to fill every inch of that void with personality. There's no hand gestures or images to get people's attention, so it's all yelling.

6. Jay Leno complimented Rachel Maddow about her lack of a combative style.
I hope this shouting at each other and not making a point because of it becomes passe in news TV.

8. You and me both. I know conservatives that listen to Diane Rehm for the same reason...
she's not 'in your face'.

4. I would prefer Thom Hartmann or even Mike Malloy, but I guess they are
considered too radical for prime time. Didn't Schultz used to be a good ole boy Republican at one time?

5. He's Looking Good and Would Be Welcome Here...
I know he's not the most progressive, but he's very pro-labor. He also has brought in a lot of moderates into the Democratic party. Many of us may not notice, but he's grown into the most popular non-right wing talk show host...on AFRTS and on stations that wouldn't consider having a Randi Rhodes or Thom Hartmann. Ed does the medium well and shows he's got the depth to do TV as well. He's come a long way from airing daily rants on a small station in Fargo.

The only thing that bothers me is if you don't see his face or know you're listening to his show, his voice sounds too similar to Rushbo.

7. Ed Schultz
He's not , and he's not as progressive or entertaining as I would like, but with that said I think he could be great at appealing to (primarily, don't get mad if you like him and you don't fall into these two groups) centrists and right leaning types.

He's got a touch of that Southern accent, he hunts and fishes and he doesn't complicate things (and he's pro-labor). I'm not in that target audience (although I'm also pro-labor), but I recognize the value in it. I'm glad Ed is out there.
