Anti-gay pervert arguing on Thom Hartmann that he should be able to
marry his mother if the reasons for gay marriage are valid. Thom is getting really frustrated with him.

4. I just sent Thom an email.
To the question "Why can't I marry my mother," the answer is, "Because of the government's compelling interest."

That's the legal standard that has to be met in terms of interfering with a fundamental right.

The right to marry the competent adult of one's choice has, in my humble opinion, been recognized by the U.S. Supreme Court (some might argue differently).

The State has, for example, the right to preclude a woman from marry her brother, and a compelling interest in precluding this, due to concerns about dangerous birth defects.

The State does not, however, has any such interest in precluding one competent adult from marrying another competent adult, no matter the genders or physical sexes involved, barring them being brother and sister, or such.

This is a matter of fundamental rights and granting everyone equal protection of the law.

Of course, the above is just the humble opinion of a non-practicing law school graduate.

Maat, J.D.

Its almost impossible to argue/debate with such dyed in the wool bigots.

6. If it is to both of their advantage, the son should marry his mother.
As long as they do not have children I do not see a problem. As far as I am concerned you can marry your dog. Then you can leave all of your money to your dog. We are talking about people that do not have any common sense. It is a waste of time and energy to even talk to them.

8. I don't think a dog could be considered a consenting adult and
most likely would be considered a victim of bestiality. However, let them marry their cars. I agree it's a waste of energy to talk to people who have no common sense.

7. Thom has a lot more patience for these weirdos than I do. Notice, he started
by saying he was a fan of Thom ... then moved on to saying Thom was a Jew.

9. I see no reason to prohibit ANY two consenting adults to form 'domestic partnerships' for legal and
... tax reasons. None whatsoever. The notion that progeny are solely the result of state-sanctioned 'marriage' is a fiction that imbeciles have chased forever.

11. Shades of King Oedipus.
Even he gouged out his eyes when he found out that he had married and fathered children on her. Queen Iocasta, his mother/wife, killed herself. So there is a deeply ingrained repulsion in humanity for these kinds of unions going back to ancient times, although the Egyptian royal family had all kinds of incestuous unions. But they could because after all they were gods and different from mortal humans.

14. Not that I'm interested, but do laws specifically forbid one from marrying one's mother?

16. Most laws forbid marrying anyone closer than a first cousin and in many
states not even first cousins but second cousins.

15. Another just said that gay marriage would make the definition of marriage "too confusing"
"We'll have three times more definitions of marriage than we do now"

18. He started by babbling about how he raised 3 daughters and is now an empty-nester
Weirdo: You keep talking about gay marriage as a civil rights issue. There is more to it than that.

TH: Like what?

W: Well, I raised 3 daughters and am now an empty-nester

TH: What does that have to do with gay people being allowed to marry?

W: Well, I am saying that they'll be everywhere then.

TH: So you're afraid they might have turned into lesbians if gays could get married?

W: No, that's not it. I brought them up to understand what marriage is.

TH: So you think that gay marriage will ruin traditional marriage?

W: No! My point is that there will be too many marriages!

TH: So why don't you think gays should marry?

W: Everything I taught my daughters about marriage will have been wrong! it would be too confusing to explain how a marriage could be MW, WW, or MM.

Luckily the music started up
