Why has no one else implemented this Email idea (privacy related)
Okay, so I realize that some email services offer what's called a challenge-response system that pretty much eliminates 100% of automated spam, but annoys the heck out of every human trying to email you.

However, this is what I'd like to see in an email service.

For every email sent to me, I'd like it first to be held server side, then I'd like the "challenge" sent to ME instead of the sender. Something that says, so and so would like to send you an email, then give complete and exhaustive detail about their email. Then give me the following options:

1) Accept this one email one time only
2) Permanently accept emails from this user/email address
3) Deny this one email this time only
4) Permanently deny emails from this user/address

I would like this functionality to exist on top of already commonplace spam catchers/filters.

What's so hard about making that happen?

1. ...
Isn't that just called "reading the email"?

2. I don't think so - I'd like to control what comes into my inbox.
Is that weird?

I don't want messages making it into my inbox that I don't want. I don't want them "filtered" to some separate folder - I want them not there. Period.

Maybe most people don't care about that, I dunno. For me simple spam filtering has never been satisfying. I use web-based mail right now because the spam rules have kept 100% of spam from even showing up in my junk mail, but the moment that starts to change, I'll bail.

I'll go back to a challenge-response system if I have to.

4. But you don't mind your email provider sending you another email to your inbox...
...with "complete and exhaustive detail" about the one they'll send to you if you accept?

3. well...
Deny this email this one time only is a waste of time.

you might as well just delete it yourself.

Also sending a challenge adds a lot of load to thier servers not to mention now you have to deal with every email instead of just the spam that slips through the filters.

2 and 4 can be done easily in nearly any email client.

7. I had challenge before and loved it.
Was my favorite so far. I don't really care what kind of load it adds to anyone else :D

Unfortunately my former email provider was small is not longer in business.
