Memo to GOP: Forget Limbaugh, Find a Moderate
Memo to GOP: Forget Limbaugh, Find a Moderate
By Richard L. Connor, CQ Guest Columnist

Newly appointed Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele got it right when he described talk show host Rush Limbaugh as an entertainer who can veer into the ugly.

I am having a difficult time understanding what is inaccurate about that and why he had to come back in short order to declare “enormous respect” for Limbaugh.

snip//

There is little question that his proposals increase the size and influence of government. What we do not know is the answer to this question: “Can government become big and invasive for awhile, help fix problems, and then shrink?”

That’s where the party out of power ought to be focused.

Instead, GOP leaders seem to be either speaking out in praise of Limbaugh issuing warnings about the nation going over the brink to socialism.

Socialism? Are you telling me that a president in his first term, in his first 90 days, is going to undo hundreds of years of free enterprise?

Republicans who complain that Obama is taking the country in the wrong direction are missing or ignoring what he already has done.

He is giving Americans hope.

We sure can use that these days.

1. Republicans are blinded by the ideologies. That and
all they have left in the party these days are people who can repeat lines and chants ad nausem.

2. The GOP's quest for "moderate" leadership is akin to a search for a virgin
in a bordello.

The few Republicans who actually are more moderate -- Senator Snowe, for one -- are marginalized by the rest of the party.

The GOP shoved its moderates out of the airplane and gave their seats to people like Tom Coburn and John Cornyn, and that's never a good idea.

babylonsister, you've framed the matter at hand for any Pukes who have the good sense to lurk on this site and read your posts. If they do pay you some attention, they run a high risk of learning something. The GOP's plane is in a downward spiral, engines ablaze.

Recommended.

3. Hi, saltpoint.
Yes, this was just good common sense. I doubt hardly anyone will read or absorb it, so thanks for doing so! :D

Sadly, the people that should, won't.

4. Good morning. Yep. The Republicans who most need to read this
can't read.

Bummer.
