Mitt Romney, life-long member of the NRA... for the past year

Snippet from interview:
STEPHANOPOULOS: Let's talk about guns. You were supportive of the Brady bill, the handgun waiting period, in the past. You signed an assault weapon ban into law and you said, in the past, "I don't line up with the NRA." Now, you...

MITT ROMNEY: Well, on that issue.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Now you're a member of the NRA.

MITT ROMNEY: Yes, and I know the NRA does not support an assault weapon ban. So I don't line up on that particular issue with the NRA, either does President Bush. He likewise says he supported an assault weapon ban.
Today we don't have the Brady bill because we have instantaneous background checks. That's no longer a operative or needed measure.
But I'm a strong proponent of Second Amendment rights. I believe people, under our Constitution, have the right to bear arms.
We have a gun in one of our homes. It's not owned by me, it's owned by my son, but I've always considered it sort of mine&

STEPHANOPOULOS: When did you join the NRA?

MITT ROMNEY: Within the last year and I signed up for a lifelong membership.

And he loves his son's gun....Probably like a grandchild..Or a pet? Either way, creepy friggin' answer.

3. I doubt the NRA will give him a good rating,
Mitt Romney isn't pro-gun.

7. The NRA won't give him a good rating but they may endorse him if he is the lesser of two evils ...
...with regard to gun control.

All we have to do is produce a candidate that is better on gun control and the NRA will be forced to endorse him/her. That endorsement won't change most NRA voters but it will have an impact on a certain percentage of moderate voters.

All it would take is to say that we are against the Assault Weapons Ban and lift the import ban on semi-auto rifles that are not typically used for hunting. Nothing radical at all.

much BS this "change of heart" is. And he STILL thinks semi-autos should be illegal - NO help from him!

He must have forgot the "I support the 2nd amendment...anyone should have a gun for sporting purposes", or they cut it out of the interview.

6. Hell, *I've* been an NRA member longer than that...
I mostly like when people see cards for NRA, ACLU, NOW, and NAACP in my wallet.

The NRA is going to be pretty pissed in two years, I think, because there's not a real gun rights advocate likely to get the nomination from either party.

11. A useless pretender, worse then an anti-gunner, because he is disingenious,
flip-flopping NOW just to get votes. How can anyone respect such a person? And to use * as an an example?? He apparently isn't that bright either.
