Micron may slash 2,000 jobs......
Micron may cut as many as 2,000 positions
By Sue Chang

Last update: 5:51 p.m. EST Feb. 23, 2009

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Micron Technology said late Monday it plans to cut 500 employees in the short term and may reduce as many as 2,000 positions by the end of the fiscal year in line with its decision to close down certain manufacturing operations. In response to the deteriorating economic environment and declining demand, the company will phase out 200mm wafer manufacturing operations at its Boise facility, the chip maker said. Micron had earlier announced that it would reduce its global workforce by 15% but the latest job cuts are not included in that figure.

1. Damn, that sucks
I worked for them from 1999-2003 and still have friends who work there. Hope they're going to be okay.

2. I interviewed there Friday morning
The recruiter told me they had received hundreds of resumes and reduced it down to three candidates.

3. Wow! They were recruiting Mr. Tesha last year, but we both concluded that Boise...
was located in absolutely the Middle-of-Nowhere, with nothing
but Red all around for hundreds of miles.
