I don't have to be nice.

I'm not the sort of guy to mince words. When I write or say something, there's no mistaking where I stand. As I have been monitoring almost all of the right wing talk programs, almost daily,(I am a delivery driver, at least until my book sales say different) I have heard a resounding, GREATLY INCREASING, unending drumbeat of pure, unadulterated HATRED for Obama and the administration. These radio show hosts, Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Rusty Humphreys, all speak with the rabidity of a hydrophobic dog. You can almost see see the wild, maniacal look in their eyes, and the drool hanging from their lips, as they speak on the radio in a rage that should only be reserved for the Hitlers of the world. Anyone familiar with politics knows of the "hand in glove" relationship between the republican party and these lower life forms.

If any of you have been monitoring these programs, then you know exactly what I mean. Before the year is out, my guess is that they will be clamoring for Obama's impeachment.

Well, here are my thoughts: I am reminded of a scene in the John Wayne movie "Big Jake," when I think about Obama extending his hand across the aisle in a gesture of bi-partisanship. After being goaded by another cowboy, who was clearly pushing for a fight, Wayne smiled and said, "Well, I guess there's no point in trying to get on your good side." Then he reached back and floored the guy with a roundhouse punch.

Get the message? Well, I think that Obama has had a taste of what's to come, but just a taste. The piling on by the repubs has only just begun. And I'm thinking that Obama has sent signals this week that he's not going to fret over it. If the repubs don't want to cooperate, the our president will steamroll them, as he should.

FUCK THEM!!!

Fuck the republicans and everything they stand for, because they sure as hell don't represent any part of America that I want to be associated with.

EVERY GODDAMMED REPUBLICAN REPRESENTATIVE AND SENATOR CAN GO FUCK THEMSELVES!!!

They aren't Americans.

They don't care about this country.

They are the biggest fucking hypocrits on earth.

Now! Now, WE are to be made to believe that these OBSTRUCTIONISTS have found their moral compass?

SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASSES, ALL OF YOU!!

AND GET THIS THROUGH YOUR THICK, UNDEVELOPED BRAINS: PRESIDENT OBAMA IS IN CHARGE NOW, AND THE DEMS CONTROL CONGRESS, SO EAT SHIT, FUCKERS.

YOU ALL HAD YOUR SHOT AND RUINED THIS COUNTRY, SO GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR WAY.

It's open season on republicans. The fucking talk radio robots all spout the same talking points. The republican party DOES take its cue from thise moronic gasbags, and THAT'S THE TRUTH OF IT!!

All of you motherfuckers can whine and use all the hot button words you want, like "neo marxist," "socialist," comrades" "communists," or whatever the fuck you want to call us or the administration.

The truth of it is that you only have G.W. Bush and yourselves to blame. We're just trying to clean up this huge stinking mess you left us, so fuck off, eat shit, die, leave the country or whatever.

Not only am I going to meet fire with fire, but I'm just now getting warmed up. I have a lot on my mind and a shitload of arthritis medicine.

6. Exactly
There is no way to win against these people as long as passion for our aims and anger against those who would derail them is absent. If we do not counter their hate with righteous rage we will lose. They have no respect for reasonable informed discussion but they do understand getting in their face and fighting down and dirty.

8. He's got it covered.
"You know, if someone comes at me, I will knock them out; if not, than I will try to understand their point of view... and that actually serves me well.

I give people the benefit of the doubt, I try to understand their point of view..."

"...but,

(here it comes)

IF I perceive that they are trying to take advantage of that, I will crush them."

All said with that million-watt smile and a chuckle, but don't disbelieve him for a second.

John Wayne's got nothing on Obama.

9. You BET!!...and I'm really afraid we're going to be at a loss unless
we get MORE control of the Media!....I saw David Axelrod on TV early today...and he did alright except for one thing:..He was on DEFENSE, as it seems the Dems always are...I wanted to scream at this nice, mild-mannered man.."Get CONTROL of the Conversation"...We don't NEED to be on "defense" anymore, we WON and we need to ACT like it..we need to go on OFFENSE!..

It's the only way to win, cause God knows, these freaking media anchors are just going to keep doing there corporate masters bidding....WE have got to get CONTROL of our message and put THEM on Defense...We've got to play hardball!...It's one of the reasons I loved Howard Dean because he would just kick ass and not care!

David Gregory kept coming at him on MTP, and I could hardly stand watching it. David Axelrod needs to be more forceful or stay off the teevee. This is not where he shines - he's much more a behind the scenes kind of genius.

45. This is so true.
Democrats have not developed the art of sound bite politics. The Republican'ts are expert at it. Just look at how they have swayed public opinion by merely telling a couple lies about the stimulus package: its pork, its too expensive, it won't create jobs - ALL lies.
And the sad thing is that the Democratic talking points would all be true and really what most of the country is thinking: tax cuts don't work, every penny of the stimulus is geared toward creating jobs somehow, and we are taking a chance with it because most economists think its too small.

Edited on Mon Feb-16-09 02:49 PM by HillbillyBob
I have lived in nazibama, and florida.I have been sick of hearing the rashlimpdick neonazi shit since about 86 when I was an over the road salesman in SouthFlorida covering from Key West to Ft Pierce, I had areas where the only radio reception was the station spewing rash. I kept the radio on in order to hear any dangerous weather updates. Being out in the bush could be dangerous if there was a tornado or fire.
I have been hearing this lie shit for years and had reached the point I wanted to drive over to rashes palm beach mansion and drive my truck through his living room.
I did keep a little sanity, not much. Now I am too sick of it to cope with it.
I live on a little farm out in the woods, but I do have a pitchfork so when you are ready and can get a nice group of irate citizens to storm Washington lets go.
Because while the dems might have won, they are not our friends.
I have survived being beaten half to death by folks who hate faggots, muggers, and cops and various miscreants that claim to be good citizens. To quote someone else I m mad as hell and Im not going to take it any more! When the hell are the rest of American citizens gonna wake the hell up and take back our country? are we all pussies?
Our ancestors wrested this country away from the folks that lived here, and away from France then England some of those native Indians were my ancestors too.
We took Europe away from the nazis, but we still have their American collaborators fouling our government now, we need to get rid of them.
They are anathema to freedom, justice and the real American way.

14. The problem with your media, shock-jocks, etc is you haven't bothered to house-train them.
Edited on Mon Feb-16-09 07:04 PM by Joe Chi Minh
They need to be house-trained by Obama's team, and fast.

We had a wonderful animal-trainer called Barbara Woodhouse. She used a choke chain. That's all they need. Don't revile them for being what they are. Dogs are dogs. Not human beings. We mustn't expect "figs to grow on thorns."

We had a semi house-trained polecat* in the Commons by the name of Norman Tebbbit. A close aide of La Thatcher.

*Identified as such by wellknown naturalist and bushy eyebrow-grower, "Silly Billy" Dennis Healey, Callaghan's Chancellor.

17. I hope Obama finds his
spine, but I've been hoping that for Democrats since 2006. Given his choices for Cabinet positions and Financial Advisors, I'm not jumping for joy.

I got the shivers as I watched Obama take the Oath of Office as Rockefeller stood behind his right shoulder with a big smirk on his face. That was a huge message.

I still think it's up to We, The People. We are the heroines and heroes. Things are going to get very, very bad...I fear the devaluation of the dollar. The Banksters must be held accountable.

32. funny how the double standard is so comforting to us
Is there a United States of America as Obama talks about, or is there a Democratic America and a Republican America and each side believes of the other side that:

"They aren't Americans.

They don't care about this country.

They are the biggest fucking hypocrits on earth."

and also that the other side creates a "resounding, GREATLY INCREASING, unending drumbeat of pure, unadulterated HATRED" for leaders in the opposing party.

34. Hmm
I understand the need to vent and let loose occasionally. And there's been times for me, even in the recent past, when I would have agreed with you 100%.

Now I'm a bit more cautious - though I think my ideals remain the same. I'm still hoping to see some unity between the two parties, which, in my opinion, will lead to greater productivity. Getting more things done, for everyone.

Is the right going to continue to spit on the left? Absolutely. And sure, we can give it back and then some... at present. But (IMO) unless we try to work together for the good of the Nation and at least attempt to put aside our differences (to the extent that we can) what I see is a long damn cycle.

It's inevitable, in my opinion, that in time there will once again be a republican majority, inevitably followed in the future by a democratic majority again, and back and forth. As has pretty much always been the case.

If we thumb our noses at the republicans, ignore them and hold them in contempt, it is entirely likely we will receive the same treatment when the shoe is on the other foot. In fact, we already did. Now a lot of us want to give it back, and I absolutely understand that. I understand it - but I don't think it's in our best interest.

Perhaps unity (even for the sake of the Country) has become impossible considering how idealistically opposed the two parties are. Nonetheless, I believe we should make every effort to accomplish it to the best of our abilities.

Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Howie Carr - the other nitwits, I refuse to listen to them under any circumstance. Frankly they make me want to puke, every time I even hear of them. But I honestly don't believe that their views are shared by a majority of republicans. Rather a lesser group (though certainly still powerful) on the fringe.

Perhaps I'm wrong and perhaps it's pointless. But I'm not ready to turn away from the idea of unity yet. Because it's a good idea.

because of the philosophical differences between the two sides the 'cycle' will be never ending. Thus, the fairness doctrine, which wouldn't even be necessary if it wasn't for the hate, spin and greed from the other side.

41. Joe Fields, here's the next step...
Figure out a way to take your rant (with which I fully agree) and PG edit it for a family newspaper! I'd run it in every op ed column there is (I'm the first to ask you)...

While you're in the truck listening to those unbearable bottom feeders (I hope you don't have to wear a brown shirt while driving), I'm reading with increasing disgust the op ed column of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and see MORE and MORE of the talking point mental midgets slinging the same bullshit. They're getting ready to serve up an impeachment, banging on snare drums full of Limbaugh's shit.

Then we need to institute fairness doctrine and change who can own the big signals over the air waves. This free market unregulated thing since the late 80's are the reason you can't listen to anything BUT that model of radio. We have NOTHING left in the SW part of the PA on the radio, and based on the major MSA's (where my son and his family are getting ready to move) it's worse in the SE corner of the US. Great way for my grandson to grow up.

We need to take back the people's airwaves with a vengeance.

Good luck with the arthritis. Fish oil, Flaxseed Oil, mixed veggies and whole grains, baby.

Let's wipe out all shitty diaper wearing Vitters and media whores who didn't vote the the stim package but tell their constituents what great things they got for it (Mica of FL).

Republicans today have nothing to do with the party of Lincoln. They've lost any skill set to be trusted with a history book or the constitution.

Yeah, I'm mad as hell and am not going to take it anymore, too.

67. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. It's actually a few things that they want.

As I see it, they want to ramp up the class warfare, with the pay gap ever widening. They will always want to subjugate us to their rule. They want to completely dismantle govt., so that we will be at further risk, with no safety nets. They want controlling power in the White House again, and in congress. Tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy, while zip for you and me. They could never get over the fact that Clinton beat an incumbent, George H.W. Bush, no less, and they've been throwing tantrums ever since. They thought they were well on their way to achieving these goals, but Obama and the new New Deal have made them all crazy.

51. Right on, Joe! Couldn't agree more!
Hope you can give up the day job soon, live off book sales, but we need your passion and focus in this fight we're facing with the republicons you just lambasted so eloquently. BTW, have told others about that book, and will order it today. Thanks for the reminder!

Go get 'em!

53. Ive actually lost friends by turning this on them
when they spout their "liberals hate america" bullshit, I vent whatever PTSD I can summon right on them. At that point I personally blame them for every soldier I zipped into a body bag, for every day I wondered how to get my squad "through this one", all the children I had to bandage cause they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. For astronomical suicide rates in my Army. For pissing on mys ervice, my constitutional rights, for talkign tough while hiding here in the mall.

They dont like that. But they deserve it. Its the same level that Rush uses. I will never stop.

62. I'm with Joe
I've taken the gloves off with the in-laws. I've recently taken to mocking them to their face when they say something bat-shit crazy, and usually end the exchange by suggesting that they try reading before they open their mouths and embarrass themselves.

repukes don't even pretend to play nice for a second.

It is HATE and total war.

64. We need media reform now
in order to preserve a free press, news outlets must be distinguished and separated from editorial, entertainment and commercial programming. It is a matter of public education, and the accurate dissemination of information to the public is the cornerstone of a free nation. We are not free if we cannot make informed and intelligent decisions in our lives.

I believe that reform of the media can transform this country from dumbed and numbed down to focused and empowered again. Allowing our free press to be taken over by business has polluted our minds and sense of purpose.

Corporate interests must be curtailed in this country across the board, from their meddling in our healthcare system, and their literal takeover of our government and foreign affairs and to our once free press. They thrive on the ignorance of the people, and have studied human behavior enough to know how to keep people addicted to fear, self righteousness and violence. The corporate press has been a tool for dividing and conquering this country, enough to further their agenda of thievery and ruthless hunger for more and more power.

Limbaugh, O'Reilly and his ilk are only perfect tools, and a sign of these times. If we regain control of our own press, these sick personalities will slip into the outer fringes of obscurity, where they belong.

Taking back our press will take time, military industrial corporate interests do not like an informed public, I believe they are still in place, and Obama is not an inside player, evident in all the negative rhetoric.

66. Agreed mostly but one problem: "They aren't Americans."
They are indeed Americans. They may not vote for their own self interests and they may not actually care about this country above their own personal bottom line even as it diminishes (they'll never admit it.) They are indeed Americans though...just the ones we don't like to think about.

Take a look at the listeners: White Males 50+, unmarried or divorced, with no kids or they never get to see them because "the bitch is evil". We're not talking about people who are going to leave a legacy or anything. That demographic fits every hard-core Rush Limbaugh listener I have ever had the displeasure of knowing.

Some can be helped and persuaded. (anyone under that age and a few who are over who can actually admit they are wrong.)

The rest will die off in time. It's just that simple.

One way to prevent their return is to make sure that people don't get stuck in their cycle of hatred.

and RW talk radio needs to go away. Too many rubes get their information from RW shock jocks competing for ratings and big payoff with vitriol.

68. All my life, RWingers have yammered the US doesn't have to worry what others think
The US is strongest and should just do what it thinks is necessary; to hell with global opinion!

Heard it ALL my life and I am approaching the geezerhood! They don't value being polite to others who are not as strong.... until they are a minority then they suddenly have a problem with writing off whiny obstructionists who really don't have the power to dictate to the US what should or shouldn't be done.

Cause pointing out the obvious failure of Reaganomics and the well proven inability of the Republican party to take care of this country in any rational manner is SOOOOO commie.

I truly hope one of them springs for a political science or economics course at the local community college...if it's not too "intelectually elite" for them.
