A curious thing happened at our Leg.Dist. meeting tonight.
Two republicans showed up. They didn't say anything for a while but then introduced themselves. They were there to see what our issues are and to promote dialog. They are feeling shut out of their party because it is so far right. They gave us some interesting info about our newly elected State. Leg. and how his campaign was run, etc. They actually called him the "stealth candidate" because no one knew anything about him, he attended no meeeting or candidate forums, he never had a website, he had no photo on his campaign literature, etc. His name is androgynous so they thought this is why he got elected, even though the Dem. candidate saturated the district and was 10X more visible.

Interesting. I didn't know what to make of it. The chairmen of our meeting spent a lot of time talking to them after the meeting. Maybe things are starting to change in Arizona. It sure sounded like they were as disgusted with Sheriff Joe as we are. All we need to do is peel off a few of these Republicans that feel left out and we can turn AZ blue! (A girl can dream, can't she?)

1. I figured you were from AZ before I even got through your post.
I'm in LD20 and we've had a lot of new folks showing up at our meetings, including some former Repubs.

3. It's exciting, isn't it?

When I was there, three people stepped forward to become PCs. There's a ground swell out there. And that ding dong from Alaska poo-pooed community organizers. Take that, Moose Lady!

BTW, I'm in LD22.

2. I met one AZ woman who already is a sign of change there
At this thing I go to every New Year's, the last two years, I have run into Gabrielle
Giffords, the new Democratic Congresswoman who was elected to Republican Jim Kolbe's
seat when he retired. It's a good sign.
