Wow---The Media has ADD(attention deficit disorder)
They are in so much "pain". sarcasm "Obama talked too long--his
ansers were too long."

The poor dears cannot figure out how to deal with an articulate
thoughtful president.

I have often wondered 'what is their problem?" Now I know.

2. They lost an intellectual peer with Bush. Now they have to deal with a Titan.
The president is much smarter than they are...how can they do their jobs?

3. Their jobs have been to make silk purses from sows ears for 8 years
It's going to take them a while to dust off their mothballed intellect and think for themselves.

6. I think the whole country was dumbed down....
the last 8 years (and arguably during most Republican administrations). We tend to reflect our leaders, "hey, it's ok to be dumb. It's cool."

Now it's a new game in town. It's cool to be smart. Almost like having The West Wing back....but better....way better.

4. Great point
I heard Keith O, Chris Matthews and Rachel M bemoaning the 7 minute answers and I just thought to myself, "are they f***cking crazy? We have a president who can answer a question, period and plus he can answer articulately and I think they're underestimating people's ability to focus for 7 minutes. I guess all those years of W have taken their toll on MSM

18. I heard that as well, but I didn't think
I didn't think KO, Rachel and Tweety were 'bemoaning' the length of his answers, sounded more like KO was wondering if longer, more thoughtful answers were going to fly over the heads of the press corps.

Maybe I heard it wrong....

7. Not long answers
Long discussions of things around question to avoid actually giving an answer. Helen's a was a clear example.

I am in minority at DU. I posted back during the early debates about Obama talking all around issues.

16. Perfectly capable of following the answers, while still remembering the question
Edited on Mon Feb-09-09 10:54 PM by unc70
Of course Obama is much better than W, but that is not a great standard. I think that Obama would be much more effective if he stopped when he had made his point, rather than to continue talking and bringing in every thing even somewhat related to main point he is making. While some cases such as Helen's question about nukes in the ME were obvious efforts to avoid the question. More often, he seemed to be "filling the air" almost like running out the clock.

Maybe I am spoiled by having had the luck of being taught by several excellent teachers and find Obama only fairly good.

Bill Clinton was better in these situations, improving over time. I hope Obama will become more concise. I will be curious how many viewers stuck with the N C after a couple of long answers.

24. I disagree and think he trys to give all possible answers to vague
questions - I find I do the same thing - you are guessing what the question really is about - and it is not a conversation but an answer - so he covers all points so that ANYONE with a similar question can understand - with bush there was only one answer -rw ideology

14. Obama is/was very direct. Its so refreshing. After shrub.
I don't agree that he talks around issues. He answered Helen's first question and her second, moved on as she came back for thirds. I love Helen, btw.

Obama spoke directly to the American people tonight and the MSM was the odd man out.

19. Good News,Bad News
The good news is that Obama is intelligent, thoughtful, articulate ,civil, cerebral, sincere, serious and ERNEST if nothing else. The bad news for the press, especially media press, political junkies of all sorts, talking heads ,talk show hosts, interviewers etc. is that he is going to be too much like a college professor and lecturer and unbearably BORING as time goes on.You read it first here.

Just think...we might have had Sarah for our prez, instead of this boring dude we had on tonight. Excitement! Whee!!

21. But he didn't
mispronounciate anything. How're the MSM supposed to earn their checks if they can't spend 30 minutes explaining what they think he said? And what are they to do when a President's statements are clearly understood? No wonder they fawn over Palin!
