Week One

Sometimes, when there is so much to do, we can forget to look at what we've done. There is a lot we must repair in our country. Let's not lose sight of all the steps made a long the way. My goal was to track accomplishments of the new administration especially President Obama's. I've fallen a bit short of my goal, so feel free to add anything I missed. He did a lot in one week.

January 20, 2009 Tuesday
1. Obama acknowledges 'non-believers'
2. Obama unveils new presidential Web site; Change has come to the official White House Web site.

January 21,2009 Wednesday
1. President Obama signed executive orders to close the controversial U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, within a year, ban torture and end the CIA’s secret overseas prisons and define treatment of Detainees.
2. President Barack Obama is freezing the pay of the about a hundred White House employees who make over $100,000 a year
3. Obama retakes the oath of office after a busy first day
4. On his first day in office, President Obama put former president Bush on notice. His administration just released an executive order that will make it difficult for Bush to shield his White House records - and those of former Vice President Dick Cheney - from public scrutiny by invoking the doctrine of executive privilege.

January 22, 2009 Thursday
1. Obama Stops Bush's Last-Minute Regulations
2. Fair-Wage Bill Clears The Senate; High Court Decision Would Be Overturned

January 23, 2009 Friday
1. President Obama signed an executive order today reversing the ban that prohibits funding to international family planning groups that provide abortions. Gag rule revoked (Mexico City policy)
2. Obama slams companies for squandering bailout funds
3. Two days after the inauguration of President Barack Obama, who opposed his predecessor’s ban on federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research, the Food & Drug Administration authorized Geron, a US biotech company, to begin clinical trials for patients with severe spinal cord injuries.
4. New administration moves quickly to undo "midnight regulations" designed to relax environmental rules
5. Obama urges NATO to help Afghanistan.

4. They need to be voted out of office. Every last one of them
That is something I will put on my To Do list! Let's send these losers home. They've destroyed enough.

3. and I know I missed some
I also just tried to stick to things that were completed actions and left off things like talks and negotiations etc. So he's done more than this. He needs to keep having weeks like this. We were set back 40 years by the last administration. We do have a long way to go, but seeing what can be done in one week... imagine where we'll be in another 207 weeks!
